Road to the 2025-2026 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs (Overview)

The standings in the PWHL were finalized after a long season of thrilling battles and tough losses. With the end of the regular season comes the start of the 2026 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs. Read about when the top four teams secured their spot in the playoffs as well as the dates and times of the upcoming matchups. 

The finalized standings as of April 25, 2026: 

1. Montréal Victoire (62 points, 16-6-2-6) Clinched Playoff Position

2. Boston Fleet (62 PTS, 16-5-4-5) Clinched Playoff Position 

3. Minnesota Frost (50 PTS, 13-3-5-9) Clinched Playoff Position

4. Ottawa Charge (44 points, 9-8-1-12) Clinched Playoff Position

5. Toronto Sceptres (38 points, 10-1-6-13) 

6. Vancouver Goldeneyes (37 points, 9-3-4-14)

7. New York Sirens (36 points, 9-3-3-15)

8. Seattle Torrent (31 points, 8-1-5-16)

The Seattle Torrent, New York Sirens, Vancouver Goldeneyes, and Toronto Sceptres were unable to secure a spot in the playoffs after their multiple struggles throughout the regular season. The possibility of clinching a spot in the playoffs for the Seattle Torrent and Vancouver Goldeneyes came to an early end as they were unable to overcome the hardships faced earlier in the season. On the other hand, the New York Sirens and Toronto Sceptres fought tooth and nail for a spot in the playoffs only to have their fate sealed with tough losses during the last week of the regular season. Despite these losses, their efforts during the regular season were commendable and greatly contributed to the thrilling outcomes from the teams who clinched their playoff positions. 

When looking at the teams who did make it to the playoffs, the Boston Fleet were the first team to clinch a 2026 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs position after their 4-2 regulation win against the Minnesota Frost on March 29, 2026. Despite being the first team to clinch a playoff spot, the Montréal Victoire ended up clinching the first seed in the standings after ending their regular season with a shootout victory against the Seattle Torrent on April 25, 2026. The Minnesota Frost were the third team to secure their spot in the 2026 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs after their 6-5 regulation win against the Vancouver Goldeneyes on April 4, 2026. The fourth seed was determined on April 25, 2026 when the Ottawa Charge shutout the Toronto Sceptres, 3-0, in their last matchup of the regular season. This triumphant finish for the Ottawa Charge ultimately punched their ticket into the 2026 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs.
