Feb. 27-March 02, 2025 USPHL Pacific Division Game Recap

The 2024-2025 USPHL regular season closed out with a two-game series for the Long Beach Bombers and a couple three-game series for the remaining teams who had games this past week. The intensity of these games were high and did not disappoint as many of the remaining teams were trying to close out the regular season strong and on a high note. Read about how it all went down below!


Long Beach Bombers Two-Game Series

The Long Beach Bombers faced Henderson Force at Iceoplex Simi Valley for Game 1 of their two-game series this week. This series started with a 3-2 win for Henderson Force in Game 1. The Long Beach Bombers then faced the Colorado Fighting Elk in Game 2 of the series. This series was closed out with a 4-2 win for Long Beach Bombers which helped them end the regular season on a high note with a 10-34-2-0 season record and 22 points.

Game 1 | Thursday, February 27, 2025 | Henderson Force 3, Long Beach Bombers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force (3-2) at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Jacob Kaput was able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 38 out of 40 shots on goal by the end of the game. Ludovic Dagenais was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 28 out of 31 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Wyatt Baren scored the game winning goal during the third period of the game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, March 1, 2025 | Long Beach Bombers 4, Colorado Fighting Elk 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Long Beach Bombers (4-2) at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Liam Gacek was able to secure the win for the Long Beach Bombers after saving 29 out of 31 shots on goal by the end of the third period. Kaeden Aberle was in net for the Colorado Fighting Elk and saved a total of 42 out of 45 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Long Beach Bombers’ Marcus Vargas scored the game winning goal early in the third period and Andrew Armas secured the team’s win with an empty net insurance goal scored later in the period. 


Ontario Jr. Reign Sweeps Their Three-Game Series

Feb. 28- March 2, 2025

The Ontario Jr. Reign faced the Bakersfield Roughnecks in Game 1 and Game 2 of their three-game series located at Ontario Center Ice Arena. The Jr. Reign dominated Game 1 and won by a landslide with a final score of 9-2. They carried their momentum into Game 2 which resulted in an 8-2 win for Jr. Reign. This three-game series was closed out with a 10-0 shutout by the Jr. Reign when they played against the Colorado Fighting Elk in Game 3 of the series. The Bakersfield Roughnecks ended the regular season with 36 points and secured a 16-26-2-2 season record. The Ontario Jr. Reign ended the regular season with 68 points and a 33-11-2-0 season record and 68 points after closing the season with a seven-game winning streak!

Game 1 | Friday, February 28, 2025 | Ontario Jr. Reign 9, Bakersfield Roughnecks 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation victory for the Ontario Jr. Reign (9-2) at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Josh Henson was able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 22 out of 24 shots on goal by the end of the third period. Jakob Barcelona was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and saved a total of 40 out of 49 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Mason Geng scored the game winning goal and Matteo Pero scored the power play insurance goal during the second period of the game.

  • HAT-TRICKS: After scoring 3 goals during this game, Ontario Jr. Reign’s Mason Geng recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 

Game 2 | Saturday, March 01, 2025 | Ontario Jr. Reign 8, Bakersfield Roughnecks 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (8-2) at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Ryan Hicks was able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 31 out of 33 shots on goal by the end of the third period. Stanislav Teplitskyi was in net for the Bakersfield Roughneck and saved a total of 55 out of 63 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Christopher Lai scored the game winning goal and Morry Sheynin scored the insurance goal late in the first period. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Samuel Delaquis recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring three power play goals during this game. 

Game 3 | Sunday, March 2, 2025 | Ontario Jr. Reign 10, Colorado Fighting Elk 0 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an Ontario Jr. Reign double-digit regulation shutout (10-0) at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Josh Henson was able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving all 10 shots on goal that he faced during this game. Josh Schmitz was in net for the Colorado Fighting Elk and saved a total of 58 out of 68 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Denver Craig scored the power play game winning goal and Mason Geng scored the insurance goal early in the first period. 


San Diego Sabers Three Game Series 

Feb. 28 - March 2, 2025

The San Diego Sabers three-game series started off with an impressive 9-1 win against the Colorado Fighting Elk on home ice at Carlsbad Icetown. The Sabers then faced Henderson Force in Game 2 and Game 3 of the three-game series. The Sabers carried the momentum from their previous win in Game 1 and were able to close out Game 2 with an intense 4-3 overtime win. Henderson Force did not go down without a fight and took Game 3 with a 5-3 win against the Sabers. With the end of the regular season, the San Diego Sabers have secured a 23-21-1-0 season record and 47 points. Henderson Force closed out the regular season with a 29-15-1-1 season record and 60 points. 

Game 1 | Friday, February 28, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 9, Colorado Fighting Elk 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the San Diego Sabers (9-1) at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Mikhail Saratovtsev was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 24 out of 25 shots on goal by the end of the third period. Jacob Larsen was in net for the Colorado Fighting Elk and saved a total of 40 out of 49 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Weston English scored the short handed game winning goal late in the first period and Aidan Cosgrove scored the insurance goal early in the second period of the game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, March 01, 2025 | San Diego Sabers 4, Henderson Force 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an impressive 4-3 overtime win for the San Diego Sabers at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Mikhail Saratovtsev was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 36 out of 39 shots on goal by the end of the game. Jacob Brumm was in net for Henderson Force and saved a total of 24 out of 28 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Knut Hornkvist scored the game winning goal 14 seconds into overtime. 

Game 3 | Sunday, March 02, 2025 | Henderson Force 5, San Diego Sabers 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force (5-3) at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Nicholas Perry was able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 32 out of 35 shots on goal by the end of the third period. Parker Lewis was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 26 out of 30 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Shane Dean scored the game winning goal and Anthony Chateauvert scored the empty net insurance goal during the last three minutes of the third period. 


Overall, Week 25 of the 2024-2025 USPHL Pacific Division was full of high scoring games and thrilling endings which wrapped up the last week of the regular season. Some memorable moments from this past week included: San Diego Sabers’ overtime win against Henderson Force; Ontario Jr. Reign’s high scoring games; and the Long Beach Bombers ending their regular season with a win. There were 2 hat-tricks recorded this past weekend by Ontario Jr. Reign’s Mason Geng (1 HT) and Samuel Delaquis (1 HT). There is still more hockey left as four teams from the Pacific Division have clinched their spot in the playoffs, read more about what to expect down below!
