Lake Tahoe Lakers' 2024-2025 Regular Season Recap

The Lake Tahoe Lakers clinched their spot in the playoffs after ending the regular season of the USPHL Pacific Division standings with 69 points and an impressive season record of 33-10-2-1. Out of their 33 wins, two of them consisted of four overtime wins and four impressive shutouts. They also had 10 double-digit wins during the regular season. The Lakers’ opened the regular season with an outstanding nine-game winning streak and ended the regular season with a five-game winning streak. 


PP & PK Success Rate and Top Scorers

The Lake Tahoe Lakers ended the regular season with a 24.86% power play success rate and a solid 83.18% penalty killing rate. Their top scorers were #21 Brian Erte, who ended the season with 89 points (28 G, 61 A) and #23 Jose-Jasmir Guseff, who ended with 78 points (35 G, 43 A) recorded in the regular season.

Players of the Week and Players of the Month

As of March 5, 2025, there have been a couple Lake Tahoe Lakers players that were named the Players of the Week and Players of the Month during the 2024-2025 regular season. This includes the following players: 


Players of the Week

Players of the Month

  • Defensemen, Chayce Tuton, was amongst the group that were named the Players of the Month in November and December, 2024. 

  • Forward, Cameron Cote, was amongst the group that were named Players of the Month in January, 2025.

  • Defensemen, Carver Alford was also amongst the group that were named of the Players of the Month in January, 2025.

 

Goaltending 

In regards to goaltending, all three of their goaltenders ended the regular season with a set of impressive stats which included: Perry Jacobs' 15 wins out of 25 games played and 0.905 SV%; Timon Franzen's 10 wins out of 16 games and 0.889 SV%; and Wyatt Osio's 3 wins secured in all 3 games that he played during the USPHL 2024-2025 Las Vegas Showcase. Wyatt Osio maintained a 1.00 SV% by the end of that series. 


The Lake Tahoe Lakers dominated the beginning of the series with double-digit wins, a shutout, and multiple hat-tricks recorded by members of the team. Although the team did not sweep the series after a tough Game 4 loss, their overall performance was admirable.


Against the rest of the Pacific Division: 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Bakersfield Roughnecks (BKR)

    • LTL won four out of the six games against BKR (4-2) when they faced one another during the regular season. During the previous matchups, LTL have had more control over previous games in regards to puck possession (287 SOG vs. 219 SOG) and found more success on their power play opportunities (40% PP vs. 15.6% PP). LTL also outscored BKR (31 G vs. 24 G) during the 2024-2025 regular season.

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Ontario Jr. Reign (OJR)

    • OJR won three out of the five games against LTL (3-2) when they faced one another during the regular season. LTL struggled to maintain puck possession when they faced OJR (199 SOG vs. 172 SOG). LTL also struggled with capitalizing on their power play opportunities (5.56% PP vs 17.4% PP) compared to OJR. Although OJR had the advantage over LTL, both teams were relatively similar in regards to the amount of goals scored between one another as OJR ended their regular season against LTL with 15 G and LTL ended with 14 G. 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. San Diego Sabers (SDS)

    • LTL won four out of five games against SDS during the regular season (4-1). In previous games, LTL had more shots on goal (249 SOG vs 142 SOG), significantly outscored SDS (29 G vs. 15 G), and found more success on the power play (37.5% PP vs. 21.1% PP) when they faced SDS. 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Long Beach Bombers (LBB) 

    • LTL dominated LBB during the regular season after sweeping all five games that the teams had against one another (5-0). LTL led LBB in goals scored (39 G vs. 10 G), shots on goal (234 SOG vs. 121 SOG), and power play success rate (34.8% PP vs. 17.4% PP). 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Henderson Force (HNF)

    • LTL won four out of six games against HNF during the regular season (4-2). LTL had the upper hand when it came to goals scored (25 G vs. 19 G) and puck possession (272 SOG vs. 221 SOG). Both teams were relatively similar in regards to successful power play opportunities (18.2% PP vs. 17.4% PP) which displayed how both teams were consistent on their penalty killing against one another. 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Fresno Monsters (FRM) 

    • LTL won two out of six games against FRM (2-4). When facing FRM, LTL struggled to capitalize on their scoring chances despite leading FRM in shots on goal (223 SOG vs. 212 SOG). LTL also trailed FRM in their power play success rate (20.8% PP vs. 27.5% PP) and in total goals scored while playing against one another (24 G vs. 37 G). 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Ventura Vikings (VNV)

    • LTL completely swept VNV in all three games that they played against one another during the regular season (3-0). They had a very dominant presence during the regular season which led to LTL leading in goals scored (30 G vs. 11 G), shots on goal (169 SOG vs. 77 SOG), and power play success rate (27.8% PP vs. 12.5% PP) when they played against VNV. 


The Lake Tahoe Lakers (69 PTS) do have some tough competition in the playoffs as the Fresno Monsters and Ontario Jr. Reign have currently clinched their spots. We will find out who they will ultimately face in the playoffs when the regular season finishes after the week of Feb. 20- March 2, 2025 as the 4th spot in the playoffs is still open for Henderson Force or the San Diego Sabers. The Lakers go into the playoffs with the utmost confidence and determination to maintain their extraordinary performance.
