On Dec. 17-21, 2024 the Pacific Division teams participated in the USPHL 2024-2025 Las Vegas Showcase. Teams in this division mostly found success when battling against teams from the North and Northwest USPHL Divisions. Read about how each team did as well as the highlights from this showcase overall!

Ventura Vikings

GAME 1: The Ventura Vikings struck first, recording the first goal of  Game 1 against the Bellingham Blazers. Although the team had a strong start, the Vikings allowed three unanswered goals during the first and second period. The Vikings made a huge comeback with two goals scored in the third period, however, their last push was not enough to tie or overtake the Bellingham Blazers which ended with a final score of 4-3 in the Blazers’ favor.

GAME 2: After a tough Game 1, the Ventura Vikings came back in Game 2 with vengeance. The Vikings shutout the Cincinnati Cyclones 4-0 with goals scored during the first and second period. Brasco Cirillo remained strong and did not let any of the Cincinnati Cyclones’ goals slip past him.

Game 3: The Vikings carried their momentum from the previous game into Game 3 against the Columbus Mavericks which ended in a 7-5 win for the Vikings who ended the game with 24 shots on goal. Ethan Sellwood, the Vikings’ goaltender was able to help secure the win for the team and Cameron Cote’s second hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season greatly contributed to the goals scored during this game.

Game 4: This series was closed out with a 6-0 shutout by the Ventura Vikings. After maintaining control over all three periods of the game as well as stellar goaltending performance by Joshua Arsenault who saved all 23 shots on goals that the Bremerton Sockeyes shot his way, the Ventura Vikings were able to end the series with another shutout recorded.

After facing hardships in Game 1 out of the four-game series, the Ventura Vikings came back with vengeance and were able to win the last three games of this series. These wins included a high-scoring Game 2 and two shutouts in Game 1 and Game 3. The Ventura Vikings go into 2025 with a three-game winning streak.

Bakersfield Roughnecks

Game 1: The Bakersfield Roughnecks had a slow start to Game 1 of their series after the Bremerton Sockeyes got onto the board with a goal recorded during the first period. However, the team came to life during the third period of the game which momentarily made the Roughnecks have the lead 2-1. The Bremerton Sockeyes were able to answer back and tied the game 2-2 which ultimately forced a scoreless overtime and a shootout. Although the Roughnecks’ goaltender, Max Sutton made a valiant effort to help the team stay in the game, Sockeyes’ Brendan Hamilton was able to slip a goal past Sutton during the 8th round of the shootout. Game 1 ended with a final score of 3-2 in the Bremerton Sockeyes' favor after the shootout.

Game 2: After a tough shootout loss, the Bakersfield Roughnecks came with vengeance in Game 2 of their series and won 7-1 against the Rogue Valley Royals. The Roughnecks maintained control over all three periods of the game and goaltender, Jakob Barcelona, was able to secure the win for the team after saving 15 out of 16 shots on goal.

Game 3: The Bakersfield Roughnecks carried their momentum from Game 2 of the series and won Game 3 against the Iron County Yeti with a final score of 4-2. The first period remained scoreless, however, the Roughnecks woke up and dominated the second period which ended 3-0 in their favor. Iron County Yeti did not go down without a fight after opening up the third period with two goals. However, their last push to tie the game was set back after the Roughnecks scored the last goal of the game late in the period and made it a two-goal game. Both Max Sutton and Jakob Barcelona had strong goaltending performances during this game and collectively saved 22 out of 24 shots on goal.

Game 4: The Bakersfield Roughnecks closed out their Las Vegas Showcase series with a 3-2 overtime win against the Bellingham Blazers. Both teams went back and forth in goal scoring and eventually forced an overtime. Christopher Larochelle was able to score the game winning overtime goal for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and helped close out the week on a high note. In regards to goaltending, the Bakersfield Roughnecks split up their ice time between their goaltenders during this game. This included Liam Luther in the first half of the game and Stanislav Teplitskyi during the remainder of the game. Luther saved 10 out of 11 shots on goal and Teplitskyi was able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after saving 14 out of 15 shots on goal.

Despite having a rough start, the Bakersfield Roughnecks were able to regroup and overcome any challenges that came their way. Highlights from this week included their high-scoring wins and an overtime win to close out the series. The Bakersfield Roughnecks go into 2025 with a three-game winning streak.

Long Beach Bombers

GAME 1: The Long Beach Bombers started their Las Vegas Showcase strong as they won by a landslide with a final score of 9-2. They started off strong during the first period and continued to dominate throughout the remainder of the game. Another accomplishment for Long Beach Bombers’ Christopher Porciuncula was achieved during the second period of this game as he recorded his third hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season!

GAME 2: The team carried their momentum from Game 1 into this matchup against the Bellingham Blazers and won with a final score of 5-2. Both teams were relatively matched in regards to puck possession, however, the Long Beach Bombers were able to edge out their competition.

GAME 3: After a close game, the Long Beach Bombers were able to hold onto their one-goal lead against the Columbus Mavericks and secure a 4-3 win. The team won after taking control of the first and second period with a dominant performance. Although the Mavericks were able to make a comeback and nearly tied the game, they were unable to slip a goal past Ludovic Dagenais who remained strong in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 29 out of 32 shots on goal. Jeremy Loosmore also had a strong performance during this game as he scored three out of the four goals and recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season!

GAME 4: The Long Beach Bombers started out strong with the only goal scored during the first period, however, they struggled to answer back after the Fort Wayne Spacemen dominated the second period to make it a 3-1 game in their favor. The teams went back and forth in the third period (4-2) until the Spacemen were able to extend their lead and secure their 5-2 win. The Long Beach Bombers ended with 24 shots on goal and with goaltender, Stepan Vedernikov, saving 37 out of 42 shots on goal.

The Long Beach Bombers may not have swept the series with an unfortunate Game 4 loss, this does not take away from their admirable efforts to overcome adversities in the close games they experienced this week and also secure a high-scoring win in Game 1 of the series. It also does not take away from the achievements that their members experienced as some were able to record hat-tricks during this week!

Lake Tahoe Lakers

GAME 1: The Lake Tahoe Lakers completely dominated Game 1 of their series with a 10-3 win against the Isanti Outlaws. The team ended with 4 goals during the first period and three goals during both the second and third period of the game. Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Rory Gunn contributed greatly to the 10 goals scored during this game after he recorded his second hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season!

GAME 2: The team continued to dominate the competition after a 10-0 shutout against Iron County Yeti. Perry Jacobs was able to remain strong and secure the win for the team after saving all 19 shots on goal. Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Chayce Tuton scored three goals during this game, completing his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season and greatly contributing to the team’s win!

GAME 3: When you thought the double-digit wins were over, the Lake Tahoe Lakers continued to surpass expectations with another one in Game 3. The Lakers beat out the Colorado Fighting Elk 10-2 with an impressive performance throughout all three periods of the game. The collective performance in net by Liam Freel and Wyatt Osio for the Lakers was commendable as they collectively ended the game with 19 out of 21 saves. Another standout player from this game was Scott McNulty who ended up greatly contributing to the total goals after  recording his first hat-trick of the regular season!

GAME 4: The Lake Tahoe Lakers closed out their Las Vegas Showcase with an unfortunate 5-2 loss against the Seattle Totems. Despite striking first, the Seattle Totems made a huge comeback during the second period and would continue to maintain control over the third period even after the Lakers scored their final goal late in the period. Goaltender, Perry Jacobs, made a great effort during this game and saved a total of 24 out of 29 shots on goal.

Although the team did not sweep the series after a tough Game 4 loss, this does not take away from their strong performance throughout Games 1-3 of the series. The Lake Tahoe Lakers dominated the beginning of the series with double-digit wins, a shutout, and multiple hat-tricks recorded by members of the team. Overall, the group should be proud of what they were able to achieve during this game.

Henderson Force

GAME 1: Henderson Force started their Las Vegas showcase strong with a 5-0 shutout against the Columbus Mavericks. The team won with goals scored during all three periods of the game and after a remarkable goaltending performance by Nicholas Perry.

GAME 2: After a successful first and second period, Henderson Force found themselves fighting to hold onto their one-goal lead against the Metro Jets who made a huge comeback late in the third period. The Metro Jets scored two goals after Henderson Force’s Christopher Bruder scored late in the third period which made it a very intense game overall. Despite the chaos, Henderson Force’s Nicholas Perry was able to remain strong in the net and secured the team’s 3-2 win after facing 35 out of 37 shots on goal.

GAME 3: Henderson Force made a huge comeback during the second period of the game despite the Fort Wayne Spacemen taking control over the first period which ended 2-1 in the Spacemen’s favor. With two goals scored during the second period, Henderson Force was able to gain a one-goal lead. The Force’s goaltender, Jacob Brumm, was able to secure the team’s 3-2 win after a scoreless third period and saving 32 out of 34 shots on goal by the end of this game.

GAME 4: The team started off strong by answering back with a goal after the Seattle Totems struck first, however, Henderson Force found themselves struggling once the Seattle Totems found their rhythm. The game ended with a final score of 5-1 in the Seattle Totems’ favor after taking control over the second and third period of the game. Henderson Force’s Jacob Brumm started out in net and saved a total of 12 out of 16 shots on goal before Nicholas Perry took over. Perry ended up saving 12 out of 13 shots on goal by the end of the game. Despite having 23 shots on goal, Henderson Force was unable to regain their momentum and ended the series on an unfortunate loss.

Henderson Force was close to sweeping their series but fell short in Game 4. Despite a tough loss, this does not take away from the team’s impressive performance throughout the week, especially with their shutout in Game 1 of the series.

Fresno Monsters

GAME 1: The Fresno Monsters had a tough start to their Las Vegas Showcase after a 10-6 loss against the Seattle Totems. Despite being able to score 6 goals, throughout all three periods of the game, the Seattle Totems were able to answer back and keep extending their leads.

GAME 2: After a tough start with the Fort Wayne Spacemen scoring the only goal of the first period, the Fresno Monsters made a huge comeback during the second period of Game 2 as they scored three unanswered goals to make it a 3-1 game in their favor. The Monsters continued to dominate the third period and scored two more goals. Although the Spacemen tried to make a comeback late in the third period, the game fell in favor of the Monsters as they won with a final score of 5-2 after goaltender Brooks Barofsky saved 26 out of 28 shots on goal.

GAME 3: The Fresno Monsters faced adversity in the first period as the Metro Jets took control and had a 2-0 lead up until the Monsters were able to make it a one-goal game. This momentum was carried into the second period as they momentarily tied up the game. The Metro Jets were able to regain their lead with a goal scored late in the second period and secured their 4-2 win with one last goal in the third period. The Monsters ended the game with 28 shots on goal compared to the Metro Jets’ 45 shots on goal. This does not take away from Brooks Barofsky 41 out of 45 saves during this game.

GAME 4: Although the MJDP got on the board first, the Fresno Monsters did not back down without a fight. The Monsters answered back to MJDP and extended their lead to end the game with a final score of 4-2 after having a total of 40 shots on goal. Brooks Barofsky was able to help the Monsters secure their last win of the series with his 20 out of 22 saves!

The Fresno Monsters ended up splitting their four game series which were hard-fought and full of determination no matter what the outcome was. The team’s effort showed how determined and hungry they were for a win despite all the hardships faced. The Monsters go into 2025 with the potential of having a winning streak as they currently are on a one-game winning streak.

Ontario Jr. Reign

GAME 1: The Ontario Jr. Reign had a rocky start to their Las Vegas Showcase after losing 5-2 against the Vernal Oilers. The Oilers completely dominated all three periods of the game, however, this does not take away from Jr. Reign’s Denver Craig’s efforts of scoring both goals of the game or goaltender, Josh Henson’s 27 out of 31 saves.

GAME 2: After a rough start to the series, the Jr. Reign went into Game 2 of the series with a dominant force against the Bremerton Sockeyes as they maintained control over all three periods of the game. The team scored three goals during the first period, two goals during the second period, and four goals in the third period of this game. Jr. Reign’s goaltender, Nikolas Charles remained strong during all three periods of the game and saved all 8 shots that he faced. Denver Craig also had a strong presence during this game after his third hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season contributed the total goals of the game! Not only did the Jr. Reign won by a landslide but they also shut out the Bremerton Sockeyes 9-0!

GAME 3: The Ontario Jr. Reign took control over the first period of this game with three unanswered goals. MJDP was able to cut the goal deficit to two-goals during the second period of the game, however, the Ontario Jr. Reign answered back with two goals scored in the third period which secured their 5-2 win. The Ontario Jr. Reign’s 34 shots on goal and goaltender Ryan Hicks’ 20 out of 22 saves during this game also greatly contributed to securing the team’s win.

GAME 4: Both goaltenders stayed strong during the first period of this game and did not let any goals slip past them up until the second period. Although the Metro Jets opened up the second period with the first goal of the game, the Ontario Jr. Reign answered back quickly and made it a tied game (1-1). This momentum was carried into the third period where the Jr. Reign would later score two more unanswered goals and make the final score 3-1 in their favor after having 22 shots on goal. Josh Henson was in net for the Jr. Reign and saved a total of 28 out of the 29 shots he faced by the end of this game.

The Ontario Jr. Reign had a rather successful series with three out of four wins and a hat-trick recorded by one of their members. Despite a tough start, the team should be proud of how they took control after their Game 1 loss and dominated the rest of the series. The Ontario Jr. Reign go into 2025 with a three-game winning streak!

San Diego Sabers

GAME 1: The San Diego Sabers had a great start to Game 1 of their Las Vegas Showcase against the Isanti Outlaws after dominating the first period with two goals (2-0). The Isanti Outlaws answered back during the second period (3-1) and third period of the game (3-2). However, this did not stop the Sabers’ momentum as they were able to maintain their one-goal lead and secure a 3-2 win with 51 shots on goal and goaltender, Parker Lewis, saving 33 out of 35 shots on goal.

GAME 2: Both the Sabers and Seattle Totems found themselves struggling to gain momentum and slip a goal past each other's goaltenders who remained strong during the first two periods of the game which remained scoreless up until the beginning of the third period. The first and only goal of the game was scored by the Seattle Totems who ended up shutting out the Seabers 1-0 despite Sabers’ goaltender, Viktor Pasztor’s, 41 out of 42 saves during this game.

GAME 3: Although the Rouge Valley Royals were able to get on the board first with a goal scored early in the period, the Sabers answered back with two goals which closed out the first period 2-1 in their favor. The Sabers then took control over the rest of the game with one goal scored in the second period and two goals scored in the third period. Viktor Pasztor started in net for the Sabers and saved 9 out of 10 shots on goal up until the last half of the third period. Ryan Doninger was given ice time for the Sabers and did not face any of the Rogue Valley Royals shots on goal. Collectively the Sabers goaltenders secured their win after facing a total of 10 shots on goal. This strong performance by the Sabers overall contributed to their 5-1 win.

GAME 4: The San Diego Sabers started off strong with two unanswered goals in the first period against the Iron County Yeti. The Sabers then continued to dominate the second period with three additional goals which momentarily extended their lead to 5-0 until the Iron County Yeit answered back with two goals during the last 3 minutes of the period (5-2). This push by the Iron County Yeti did not stop the San Diego Sabers from taking control over the third period with two more goals and a 7-2 win secured.

The San Diego Sabers nearly swept their four game series this past week after winning three out of four of the games. After a successful week, the Sabers close out 2024 with a win and go into their break determined to continue their two-game winning streak in 2025.
