The 2025 Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers came to an end after the Florida Panthers won the series 4-2 in six games. The Florida Panthers were reunited with the Stanley Cup and named the 2025 Stanley Cup Champions after beating the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of the series.
The series started out with a strong start for the Oilers as they won the series opener with a 4-3 OT win on June 4, 2025. The Panthers answered back with a 2OT win in Game 2 of the series and a dominant 6-1 win in Game 3. After their upsets in Game 2 and Game 3, the Oilers came back with vengeance and won Game 4 with an OT win which tied the series 2-2. The Panthers then found themselves within one-win from the Stanley Cup after they triumphantly won Game 5 of the series and regained their lead (3-2). The Panthers’ momentum from their Game 5 win, impressive goaltending performance by #72 Sergei Bobrovsky, and #13 Sam Reinhart’s hat-trick ultimately helped the Panthers to be crowned the 2025 Stanley Cup Champions after their Game 6 win on June 17, 2025.
The Panthers’ points and goals leader during the 2025 Stanley Cup Final against the Oilers was #13 Sam Reinhart who recorded 10 points by the end of this series (7G, 3A). #23 Carter Verhaeghe led the Panthers with the most assists as he recorded 8A. After winning the Stanley Cup for a second year in a row, #9 Sam Bennett was awarded the Conn Smythe trophy as he led the Panthers with the most goals scored throughout the whole playoffs (15G). In regards to goaltending, #72 Sergei Bobrovsky ended the 2025 Stanley Cup Final with a 4-2-0 record and a 0.919 SV% after he saved 193 out of 210 shots on goal.
The Oilers’ points and goals leader during the 2025 Stanley Cup Final was #29 Leon Draisaitl who ended the series with 8 points (4G, 4A). #97 C. Connor McDavid led the Oilers with the most assists as he recorded 6A by the end of this series. In regards to goaltending, #74 Stuart Skinner was the main starter for the Oilers and had a save percentage of 0.861% after he saved 118 out of 137 shots on goal. #30 Calvin Pickard had his time in-between the pipes when he took over during Games 3-5 of the series and ended with a 0.876 SV% after he saved 43 out of 49 shots on goal. The Oilers’ overall goaltending tandem ended the 2025 Stanley Cup Final with a 2-4-0 record and a 0.852 SV% after saving a total of 161 out of 189 shots on goal.
In regards to stats, the Panthers outscored the Oilers (28G vs. 17G) despite the Oilers finding more success when it came to puck possession (210 SOG vs. 189 SOG). The Panthers played more physically (230 hits vs. 203 hits) and had the advantage when it came to their average faceoff win percentage (52.6% vs. 47.4%) compared to the Oilers. In addition to their physicality and faceoff win percentage, the Panthers also found more success on their power play (30.4 PP% vs. 17.4 PP%) and their penalty kill (82.6 PK% vs. 69.6 PK%). Overall, the Panthers’ ability to capitalize on their scoring chances as well as having a strong PP and PK unit greatly benefited in their 2025 Stanley Cup Final win.
After another thrilling matchup between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers in the 2025 Stanley Cup Final, the Florida Panthers have a chance at a three peat going into the upcoming 2025-26 season. All of the Panthers’ hard work has paid off and it will be interesting to see who stays and goes as the salary cap may become an issue going into the regular season. Although there is a chance of separation, the athletes and staff members of the Panthers’ 2025 Stanley Cup roster will always be bonded after everything they went through during the playoffs.
