Week 8 of USPHL 2025-26 Regular Season

The 2025-26 USPHL regular season for the Pacific Division continued to deliver incredible highlights with a shutout, an overtime win, and winning/losing streaks being extended. Read about the thrilling wins and highlights from the games during November 7-9, 2025!


San Diego Sabers Three-Game Series

The San Diego Sabers played a three-game series on home ice at Ice Realm Carlsbad which started on Friday, November 7, 2025 and ended after their game on Sunday, November 2, 2025. The San Diego Sabers faced the Ontario Jr. Reign in Game 1 on Friday, November 7, 2025 before facing the Ventura Vikings on Saturday, November 1, 2025. They then closed out the series against the Long Beach Bombers on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Read about how the San Diego Sabers regrouped and were able to gain momentum throughout this series which resulted in a three-game winning streak!


Although the Jr. Reign struck first with a goal scored twenty-one seconds into the first period by #53 Jake Hudec, Sabers’ #94 Sam Bailey answered back and made it a 1-1 standstill going into the second period. The game remained tied by the end of the second period, 2-2, with a power play goal scored by Sabers’ #2 James Schneider and a regular goal scored by Jr. Reign’s #15 Walker Chitwood. The Sabers were able to break the standstill and win the game with a final score of 4-2 as #7 Harris Shular (1G) and #18 Jeremy Adkins (1G) closed out the third period with two goals. In regards to goaltending, #1 Stephan Vedernikov helped secure the Sabers’ first win against the Jr. Reign after saving 38 out of 40 shots on goal while Jr. Reign’s #32 Makai Collins saved 41 out of 45 shots on goal. After ending the Ontario Jr. Reign's eight-game winning streak, the San Diego Sabers found themselves with a two-game winning streak going into their Game 2 matchup. 


The Vikings entered this game with vengeance after facing their first loss against the Sabers during Week 7 of the regular season and found themselves with a 1-0 lead going into the second period. The only Vikings goal that was scored during the first period was by #51 Joe Lawrence. The Sabers answered back during the second period with a power play goal successfully scored by #7 Harris Shular which made it a tied game (1-1) until the Vikings regained their one-goal lead with a goal scored by #53 Calvin Ruggiero (2-1). The Vikings’ momentum continued into the third period with three goal scored by #47 Reese Tittle (1G), #25 Ryan Gill (1PPG), and #13 Victor Langemar Persson (1G) which gave them a 5-1 lead. Sabers’ #23 Payton Hauge was able to momentarily cut their goal deficit down to three-goals (5-2) until Vikings’ #9 Cosimo Repaci scored the last goal of the game during the final two minutes of the third period (6-2). Goaltender, #31 Aiden Biswanger was able to secure the Vikings’ win after he saved 37 out of 39 shots on goal while #1 Stephan Vedernikov saved 27 out of 33 shots on goal by the end of this game. The San Diego Sabers two-game winning streak has come to an end after their Game 2 loss against the Ventura Vikings who began a one-game winning streak.  


After a quiet start, the Sabers eventually found themselves with a one-goal lead when #7 Harris Shular successfully scored a power play goal which made it a 1-0 game going into the second period. The Sabers continued to maintain control of the game and made the score, 2-0, going into the last period of regulation with two unanswered goals scored by #63 Gavin Lynch (1G) and #27 Matthew Matsuda (1G). Although the Bombers did make a commendable effort with one last push during the third period, it was not enough to offset the Sabers’ momentum. The Sabers ended up taking advantage of their power play opportunities and put up two power play goals which were scored by #24 Sammy Albano and #94 Bailey (5-0). Sabers’ goaltender, #32 Santiago Cucuraqui Gascon, secured his first shutout win of the 2025-26 regular season after shutting out the Bombers, 5-0, and saving all 29 shots that he faced during this game. The San Diego Sabers are now on a one-game winning streak going into week 9 of the regular season while the Long Beach Bombers continue onto a two-game losing streak after this Game 3 matchup.  


Long Beach Bombers’ Three-Game Series  

The Long Beach Bombers played in a three-game series which started with a Game 1 matchup against the Ventura Vikings on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Iceoplex. They then faced the Ontario Jr. Reign on home ice at Lakewood Ice on Saturday, November 1, 2025 and later conclude this series on Sunday, November 2, 2025 in a game against the San Diego Sabers at Ice Realm Carlsbad. Read about how the Long Beach Bombers extended their streaks to a four-game winning streak before falling into a two-game losing streak during the latter games of this series. 


The Vikings struck first with a goal scored by #6 Ethan Yang midway through the first period which gave them a 1-0 lead until Bombers’ #22 Daniel Ordorica answered back and made it a 1-1 game. This Bombers goal did not hinder the Vikings as #6 Yang quickly regained their one-goal lead with a goal scored eight seconds after the Bombers’ game-tying goal was scored (2-1). The Bombers did not back down and were able to put up three back-to-back goals scored by #55 Roman Adomitis (2G) and #9 Charlie Cheetham (1G) which gave them a 4-2 lead. Although Vikings’ #25 Ryan Gill answered back and made it a one-goal game (4-3), the Bombers were able to regain their two-goal lead when #14 Jackson Litzinger closed out the second period (5-3). Despite making a great effort to tie the game after Vikings’ #71 Jake Togan cut the team’s goal deficit by one-goal (5-4), the Bombers were able to hold them off and secure their first win against the Vikings. In regards to goaltending, Bombers’ #32 Ethan Sellwood-Fernald secured the team’s victory after he saved 42 out of 46 shots on goal while Vikings’ #28  Alexander Wendt saved 17 out of 22 shots on goal. The Ventura Vikings found themselves with a two-game losing streak after their Game 1 loss to the Long Beach Bombers who went onto a four-game winning streak going into Game 2 of their series. 


In this second matchup of the regular season against the Jr. Reign, the Bombers struck first with a power play goal scored by #39 Hubert Blanchettetasse during the first period which ended 1-0 in their favor. The Jr. Reign answered back and tied the game, 1-1, with a goal scored by #11 Mason Welsh during the second period of this game. After an intense goaltending battle between Bombers’ #38 Logan Gibbs and Jr. Reign’s #29 Nicholas Perry, the third period remained a 1-1 standstill which forced the teams into overtime. The game-winning overtime goal was scored by Jr. Reign’s #22 Samuel Delaquis, two minutes and thirty seconds into overtime which ended 2-1 in the Jr. Reign’s favor. This win also helped their goaltender, #29 Perry, to secure his first overtime win of the regular season after saving 41 out of 42 shots on goal by the end of this game. Sabers’ goaltender, #38 Gibbs also had a commendable performance as he saved 56 out of 58 shots on goal. After a thrilling Game 2 of this series, the Ontario Jr. Reign have ended their two-game losing streak and ended the Long Beach Bombers’ four-game winning streak.

The San Diego Sabers are now on a one-game winning streak going into week 9 of the regular season while the Long Beach Bombers continue onto a two-game losing streak after this Game 3 matchup.  


Fresno Monsters vs. Vernal Oilers Three-Game Series 

The Fresno Monsters traveled to Western Park Arena where they faced the Vernal Oilers for the first time during the 2025-26 regular season. These teams played in a three-game series which started on Friday, November 7, 2025 and ended after their game on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Read about the shocking results from each game as two undefeated teams faced one another this past weekend.


The Oilers kicked off the first period with two unanswered goals scored by #16 Derrick Henson (1G) and #29 Ivan Janak (1G) which gave them a 2-0 lead going into the second period of this game. The Monsters found themselves on the board with an early goal scored by #15 Adrian Gomez which made it a one-goal game (2-1). The Oilers answered back in the latter half of the second period with two-goals which consisted of a power play goal scored by #26 Zach Baumann and a goal scored by #19 Jack Tidsbury (4-1). Although the Monsters made a great push to cut their goal deficit with a power play goal scored by #13 Jonathan Andersen and a goal scored by #96 William Lindgren (4-3), this was not enough to offset the Oilers who closed out the third period with the last goal of the game being scored by #12 Nikolas Cervenka (5-3). Oilers’ goaltender, #35 Viggo Boston helped to secure the team’s win after he saved 33 out of 36 shots on goal while Monsters’ goaltender, #31 Noah Hammarstrom saved 25 out of 30 shots on goal. With their Game 1 victory, the Vernal Oilers remained undefeated in the 2025-26 regular season and continued their streak to a fourteen-game winning streak after ending the Fresno Monsters’ nine-game winning streak. 


The Oilers continued to dominate this series with a 4-0 shutout secured by goaltender, #35 Boston, who saved all 39 shots on goal that he faced. The Oilers struck first with a goal scored by #12 Cervenka during the first period (1-0). #28 Logan Powers extended the Oilers lead with a goal scored a minute and three seconds into the second period (2-0). #37 Cameron Roth (1G) and #6 Milan Klein (1G) closed out the third period, 4-0, with two back-to-back goals. This Game 2 shutout by the Vernal Oilers extended their streak to a fifteen-game winning streak and continued the Fresno Monsters’ two-game losing streak. 


Game 3 was opened up with a power play goal recorded by both teams as Monsters’ #71 Nils Tunbratt scored the first goal of the game which was followed up by a power play goal scored by Oilers’ #19 Tidsbury (1-1). The Monsters frustrations from their previous losses drove them into gaining a 4-1 lead going into the second period with three goals scored by #5 Keegan Iwahashi (1G), #8 Felix Heinas (1G), and #13 Jonathan Andersen (1PPG) during the last five minutes of the first period. This three-goal lead for the Monsters was extended into a five-goal lead by the end of the second period with two goals scored by #7 Tyson Baumbach (1G) and #77 Matteo Ferreira-Tavares (1G). The Oilers’ struggles continued into the third period which was closed out with a final score of 10-1 in the Monsters’ favor. The four Monsters’ goals recorded during the third period were scored by the following players: #9 Sebastian Vesterlund (1PPG),  #20 Vertti Sakko (1PPG), #13 Andersen (1PPG) and #96 Lindgren (1G). This double-digit win for the Monsters would not have been possible without the impressive goaltending performance by #31 Niksa Slade who saved 22 out of 23 shots on goal by the end of this game. The Oilers’ fifteen-game losing streak comes to an end after their Game 3 loss against the Fresno Monsters who are now on a one-game winning streak going into week 9 of the regular season. 


Henderson Force vs. Lake Tahoe Lakers Three-Game Series 

This was originally a three-game series that took place at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena, however, the dates were rescheduled to take place on November 9-11, 2025. Below is Game 1 of the series which happened on November 9, 2025. Games 2-3 will be included in the Week 9 Game Recap article. 


The Force came in strong and ended the first period, 1-0, with a goal scored by #28 Nicholas Gallagher. Although the Lakers answered back with an early goal scored by #19 Oliver Owens during the second period (1-1), the Force regained their one-goal lead with a power play goal scored by #77 Riku Permi (2-1). The Lakers did have a series great chances to tie the game, however, their last push during the third period was not enough to hinder the Force who close out the third period, 3-1, with a goal scored by #75 Nicholas Correnti. In regards to goaltending, #1 Christian Hubert secured the Monsters’ win after he saved 20 out of 21 shots on goal while Lakers’ #33 Ryder Selbee saved 37 out of 39 shots on goal by the end of this game. After an intense Game 1 matchup, Henderson Force found themselves with a four-game winning streak while the Lake Tahoe Lakers continued onto a four-game losing streak. 


Overall, Week 8 of the 2025-26 USPHL Pacific Division was full of remarkable performances and shocking wins. Some memorable moments from this past week included a San Diego Sabers shutout, an Ontario Jr. Reign overtime win, Henderson Force and Ontario Jr. Reign shutout, and a double-digit win recorded by the Fresno Monsters. Looking ahead, we have a couple two-game series and a three-game series scheduled in week 9 of the regular season.
