Week 5 USPHL Pacific Division Recap

The 2025-26 USPHL regular season continued to deliver shocking results with the Ontario Jr. Reign ending the Ventura Vikings’ winning streak as well as Henderson Force sweeping the Long Beach Bombers with an overtime win and two shutouts. Ontario Jr. Reign vs. Ventura Vikings Two-Game Series 

The Ontario Jr. Reign traveled to Iceoplex Simi Valley to face the Ventura Vikings in a two-game series which started on Friday, October 17, 2025 and ended after their game on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Read about how the Ontario Jr. Reign ended the Ventura Vikings’ six-game winning streak after sweeping them in this two-game series.


The Jr. Reign had a dominant start to Game 1 with three unanswered goals scored by #22 Samuel Delaquis (1G), #15 Walker Chitwood (1G), and #9 Christian Yi (1G) during the first period (3-0). #22 Delaquis extended the Jr. Reign’s lead to 4-0 after he scored an early power play goal in the second period. It became a three-goal game when Vikings’ #14 Dominick Ybarra got the team on the board late in the second period. Unfortunately for the Vikings, the three-goal game quickly reverted back to a four-goal game after Jr. Reign’s #25 Jackson Tremblay closed out the second period with a goal scored less than a minute after the Vikings' goal (5-1). Although the Vikings were able to make it a 5-2 game after #9 Cosimo Repaci scored early in the third period, their efforts were not enough to offset the Jr. Reign remained unsuccessful as they closed out the game with a final score of 6-2 with their last goal being scored by #63 Maddox Derewianka. In regards to goaltending, #33 Domenik Mclnenly secured the Jr. Reign’s win after saving 31 out of 33 shots on goal. Vikings’ initially had #31 Aiden Biswanger in net and he saved 5 out of 16 shots on goal until #1 Wayne Gray took over at the start of the third period. After taking over in net, #1 Gray ended up saving 12 out of 13 shots on goal by the end of the game. The Jr. Reign found themselves with a four-game winning streak after winning Game 1 which ultimately ended the Vikings’ six-game winning streak. 


The Vikings regrouped after their tough Game 1 loss and found themselves with a 1-0 lead after #10 Nicholas Mardani scored a goal  three minutes into the first period. The Jr. Reign answered back quickly and tied the game with a power play goal scored by #11 Mason Welsh midway through the period (1-1). Game 2 remained at a tied standstill after a scoreless second period due to the phenomenal goaltending performances by each team. The standstill was finally broken by two Jr. Reign goals which were scored by #17 Evan Tsadilas and #53 Jake Hudec during the last period of regulation (3-1). In regards to goaltending, #29 Nicholas Perry secured the Jr. Reign’s 3-1 win after saving 21 out of 22 shots on goal while Vikings’ #31 Aiden Biswanger saved 35 out of 38 shots on goal by the end of this game. After falling short and being swept, 2-0, the Ventura Vikings go into week 6 with a two-game losing streak while the Ontario Jr. Reign go in with a five-game winning streak. 


San Diego Sabers vs. Fresno Monsters Three-Game Series 

The Fresno Monsters traveled to Ice Realm Carlsbad to face the San Diego Sabers in a three-game series which started on Friday, October 17, 2025 and ended after their game on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Read about how the Fresno Monsters swept the San Diego Sabers with a couple high-scoring games.


The Monsters started this series strong with an early goal scored by #20 Vertti Sakko which remained unanswered going into the second period (1-0). After a scoreless second period, the score remained 1-0 in the Monsters’ favor until #96 William Lindgren extended their lead, 2-0, when he scored a power play goal early in the third period. The Sabers continued to struggle to answer back until the final four minutes of regulation when #24 Sammy Albano broke their drought and made it a one-goal game. Although the Sabers made a great effort to tie the game and force overtime, they fell short as Monsters’ goaltender, #31 Noah Hammarstrom, was able to secure their 2-1 win after saving 26 out of 27 shots on goal. Goaltender, #1 Parker Lewis, was in net for the Sabers and saved 38 out of 40 shots on goal by the end of this game. After an intense Game 1, the Fresno Monsters extended their streak to a four-game winning streak which extended the San Diego Sabers' streak to a six-game losing streak. 


Game 2 opened up with a goal scored by Monsters’ #15 Adrian Gomez a minute and nineteen seconds into the first period which gave the team an early 1-0 lead. After struggling to answer back, the Sabers found themselves with a two-goal deficit after #20 Brian Erte extended the Monsters’ lead during the latter half of the first period (2-0). The Monsters continued to maintain control over the second period which ended 3-0 after three unanswered goals were scored by #15 Gomez (1G), #9 Sebastian Vesterlund (1G), and #96 Lindgren (1G). The Sabers finally found themselves on the board with a goal scored by #24 Ablano after the Monsters opened the third period with two goals scored by #13 Jonathan Andersen and #96 Lindgren (5-1). Although the Sabers did make a commendable effort to cut their goal deficit, they fell short when the Monsters secured their 9-1 win after #11 Palla Xaver and #20 Sakko closed out the game with two unanswered goals. In regards to goaltending, #30 Niksa Slade secured the Monsters’ win after saving 17 out of 18 shots on goal while Sabers’ #32 Santiago Cucuraqui Gascon saved 50 out of 59 shots on goal. The Fresno Monsters found themselves with a five-game winning streak after their dominant win while the Sabers ended with a seven-game losing streak. 


The Monsters kicked off Game 3 with a goal scored two minutes and thirty-six seconds into the first period by #11 Xavier which momentarily gave them a one-goal lead (1-0). This lead in the beginning half of the period was short-lived when Sabers’ #23 Payton Hauge tied the game less than two minutes after the opening goal as scored (1-1). Although the Monsters were able to regain their one-goal lead with a goal scored by #37 Connor Perdue (2-1), the Sabers quickly answered back and tied the game, 2-2, with a goal scored by #24 Albano with two minutes left in the first period. After a back and forth first period, the Monsters regrouped and dominated the second period with three unanswered goals scored by #77 Sakko (1G), #4 Felix Palla (1PPG), and #20 Erte (1PPG) which made the score 5-2 going into the last period of regulation. With time winding down, #23 Hauge made it a two-goal game for the Sabers when he successfully scored a power play goal, however, they remained scoreless for the remainder of the period which made the game end, 5-3, in the Monsters’ favor. In regards to goaltending, #31 Hammarstrom secured the Monsters Game 3 win after he saved 27 out of 30 shots on goal. Sabers initially had Sabers’ #32 Gascon in net and he saved 50 out of 59 shots on goal until #1 Lewis took over in the third period and saved all 8 shots on goal that he faced by the end of this game. After a thrilling three-game series, the Fresno Monsters are now on a six-game winning streak while the San Diego Sabers are now on an eight-game losing streak going into week 6 of the 2025-26 regular season. 


Long Beach Bombers vs. Henderson Force Three-Game Series 

The Long Beach Bombers traveled to America First Center to face the Henderson Force in a three-game series which started on Friday, October 17, 2025 and ended after their game on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Read about how Henderson Force swept the Long Beach Bombers with two shutouts and an overtime win.


The Force started Game 1 strong with two unanswered goals scored by #55 Loui Lundahl and #10 Christopher Bruder late in the first period (2-0). #26 Reese Hicks continued the Force’s scoring streak with a goal scored early in the second period (3-0). The Bombers’s struggle to get on the board continued especially after #11 Frank Barncord extended the Forces' lead to 4-0 with a goal scored late in the period. The Force ended up closing the game, 6-0, after #77 Riku Permi and #6 Cole West scored two unanswered goals during the third period. Force’s goaltender, #21 Ralfs Kalnins, secured his second shutout of the 2025-26 regular season after saving all 29 shots on goal that he faced by the end of this game. After shutting out the Bombers, Henderson Force have extended their streak to a two-game winning streak. Unfortunately for the Bombers, the team’s losing streak extended to three-games after this loss. 


Game 2 opened up with a power play goal scored by Bombers’ #77 Permi nine minutes and twenty-nine seconds into the first period (1-0). The Bombers quickly answered back with a goal scored by #14 Jackson Litzinger about four minutes after the Force’s opening goal of the game (1-1). With momentum from the first period, the Bombers found themselves with a one-goal lead after a power play goal was scored by #11 Marcus Vargas early in the second period (2-1). The game quickly reverted back to a tied game when #10 Bruder scored the second Force goal a minute and twenty-five seconds after #11 Vargas’ goal (2-2). The Bombers did not back down as #16 Kyle Noyes answered back and regained the team’s one-goal lead (3-2). The remainder of the second period remained scoreless until the last five minutes when #73 Sixten Wramhed momentarily tied the game, 3-3, until Bombers' #66 Isaiah Massie regained the team's lead with a power play goal scored during the final minute of the period (4-3). Down by one goal, the Force were able to muster a power play goal, scored by #87 Martin Szcus, early in the third period (4-4). The last period of regulation remained scoreless which forced the teams to go into their first overtime against one another during the 2025-26 regular season. After an intense battle in the third period, Force’s #55 Loui Lundahl was able to score the game winning goal forty-two seconds into overtime. In regards to goaltending, #1 Christian Hubert was able to secure the Force’s 5-4 win after saving 32 out of 36 shots on goal while Bombers’ #98 Alexis Dumont saved 35 out of 40 shots on goal. After a thrilling Game 2, Henderson Force were able to extend their streak to a three-game winning streak while the Long Beach Bombers continued into a four-game losing streak. 


Force’s #77 Permi opened up Game 3 with a power play goal scored five minutes and forty-six seconds into the first period which gave the team a 1-0 lead for majority of the period until #26 Reese Hicks made it a two-goal lead late in the period (2-0). The Force’s lead was extended again when #26 Hicks successfully scored a power play goal one minute and fifty seconds into the second period (3-0). This goal scoring momentum by the Force continued throughout the remainder of the period which ended with two additional goals being scored by #9 Ryan Williams and #24 Nikodem Wroblewski (5-0). Although the Bombers made a great effort to get on the board, they remained scoreless against the Force’s goaltender, #29 Daniel Peebles, who earned his first shutout of the 2025-26 regular season after he saved all 24 shots on goal that he faced by the end of this game. After sweeping the Long Beach Bombers, 3-0, Henderson Force are now on a four-game winning streak going into week 6 while the Long Beach Bombers are on a five-game losing streak. 


Overall, Week 5 of the 2025-26 USPHL Pacific Division was full of strong performances and exciting wins. Some memorable moments from this past week included Henderson Force securing a 6-0 and 5-0 shutout in addition to a 5-4 overtime win against the Long Beach Bombers, the Ontario Jr. Reign ending the Ventura Vikings’ six-game winning streak, and the Fresno Monsters extending their streak to a six-game winning streak after sweeping the San Diego Sabers. Looking ahead, we have a few three-game series scheduled in week 6 of this regular season.
