The 2025-26 USPHL regular season continued with an eventful two-game series for the Long Beach Bombers and a thrilling three-game between Henderson Force and the San Diego Sabers. Read about the exciting wins and highlights from the games this past weekend (September 26 - 28, 2025)!

Long Beach Bombers’ Two-Game Series

The Long Beach Bombers continued their losing streak after their two-game series against the Ventura Vikings and the Ontario Jr. Reign at Lakewood Ice. This series started with a matchup against the Vikings on Friday, September 26, 2025 and closed out with a game against the Jr. Reign on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

The Vikings won by a landslide in Game 1 despite the Bombers being down by one-goal at the end of the first period (2-1). The Bombers’ goal deficit grew after the Vikings regrouped and found themselves with a three-goal lead going into the last period of regulation (4-1). The Long Beach Bombers were able to momentarily cut their goal deficit down to two-goals, however, this did not hinder the Vikings as they grinded out the third period and ended Game 1 with a 6-2 victory. The Ventura Vikings are now on a two-game winning streak after this game.

Although the Bombers had a strong start with a power play goal scored by #21 Daniel Fridyand late in the first period, their struggles continued when the Jr. Reign proved why they were the 2024-25 Pacific Division Champions as they diminished the Bombers’ lead with four unanswered goals. The Jr. Reign’s 4-1 win against the Bombers was made possible with the impressive goaltending performance by #29 Nicholas Perry after he battled it out with Bombers’ goaltender #32 Ethan Sellwood-Fernald. In regards to points, Jr. Reign’s  #11 Mason Welsh led the team with the most goals scored (2G) and #17 Evan Tsadilas led the team with the most assists (3A) by the end of Game 2

The third game of this series was cancelled due to a schedule conflict which made the Long Beach Bombers close out week 2 with a three-game losing streak. This losing streak consists of losses against the San Diego Sabers on September 20, 2025 as well as the Ventura Vikings and Ontario Jr. Reign during the week of September 26-27, 2025.

Henderson Force Sweeps the San Diego Sabers (Three-Game Series)

Henderson Force started the 2025-26 regular season strong on home ice at the America First Center with an 8-0 shutout against the San Diego Sabers on Friday, September 26, 2025. This was made possible by the overall impressive goaltending performance by #35 Ralfs Kalnins who saved all 21 shots on goal by the end of the game. The Force remained strong with a 100% penalty kill success rate and also found some success on the power play as they were able to capitalize on one out of two opportunities during Game 1 of the three-game series.

The Sabers had a strong start during the first period of Game 2 but struggled to answer back to the Force’s three unanswered goals going into the last period of regulation. Although the Sabers were able to muster another goal and cut their deficit at the start of the third period, the Force were able to maintain control and end Game 2 with a victorious 5-2 win. While on the man-advantage, both teams struggled to generate any power play goals due to each team having a stellar penalty kill unit who maintained their 100% penalty kill success rate. In regards to goaltending, #35 Kalnins was in net for the Force and helped them secure a two-game winning streak after he saved 31 out of 33 shots on goal while Sabers’ goaltender, #32 Santiago Cucuraqui Gascon, saved 48 out of 53 shots on goal by the end of this game.

The Force’s scoring momentum from their previous games carried into Game 3 which helped give them a 3-0 lead going into the second period. The Sabers answered back with an early goal scored a minute and forty-five seconds into the second period which made it a two-goal game. The Force momentarily regained their three-goal lead until the Sabers scored two back-to-back goals during the latter half of the third period. Unfortunately for the Sabers, their last push was not enough to end the Force’s winning streak as they won Game 3 with a final score of 4-3. In regards to goaltending, Force’s #29 Daniel Peebles got his start in between the pipes for the first time this season and saved 25 out of 28 shots on goal while Sabers’ #1 Parker Lewis saved 42 out of 26 shots on goal. After sweeping the Sabers during their successful 2025-26 regular season debut, Henderson Force are now on a three-game winning streak.
