WEEK 1 - USPHL Pacific Division Recap

The Pacific Division kicked off with two games played on Friday, September 13, 2024. 

  • The first match-up was between the Fresno Monsters and the Bakersfield Roughnecks which was located at Gateway Ice Center. 

    • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an overtime victory for the Fresno Monsters (5-4) on home ice. 

    • GOALTENDING: Markus Wasastjerna saved 22 out of 26 shots on goal and was able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters. Max Sutton was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and saved a total of 51 out of 56 shots. 

    • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Pelle Backstrom scored the overtime game winning goal which was assisted by Simon Eriksson and Nils Tunbratt. 

  • The second match-up was between the Ventura Vikings and the Long Beach Bombers which was located at Lakewood Ice. 

    • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ventura Vikings (3-1) on the Long Beach Bombers’ home ice. 

    • GOALTENDING: Brasco Cirillo did not save the one shot on goal that the Long Beach Bombers scored on but this did not stop the team’s momentum from winning the game. Stepan Vedernikov was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and was unable to save all three shots on goal. 

    • GAME WINNING GOAL: Cameron Cote broke the 1-1 tie after he scored a goal in the third period which was assisted by Cosimo Repaci and Hayden Klugerman. Richard Navarro scored the insurance goal which secured the win for the Ventura Vikings, assisted by Hayden Bruininga. 


The following day, two games were played on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

  • The first match-up was between the Onatrio Jr. Reign and the San Diego Sabers which was located at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

    • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (6-3) on home ice. 

    • GOALTENDING: Ontario Jr. Reigns’ Nikolas Charles saved 8 out of 11 shots on goal and Ethan Sellwood saved all 17 shots faced. Parker Lewis was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 40 out of 46 shots. 

    • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reigns’ Ethan Fraser scored the game winning goal which was assisted by Gavin Evans followed up by Denver Craig scoring the insurance goal, assisted by Ethan Fraser.

    • HAT-TRICK:

      • Denver Craig recorded the first hat-trick during this match-up against the San Diego Sabers. 

  • The second match-up was between the Fresno Monsters and the Bakersfield Roughnecks which was located at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

    • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (5-1) on the Bakersfield Roughnecks’ home ice. 

    • GOALTENDING: Fresno Monsters’ Peter Burke saved 19 out of 20 shots on goal which secured the teams’ win. Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Jakob Barcelona saved 16 out of 17 shots before Stanislav Teplitskyi took over and saved 24 out of 28 shots. 

    • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Elliot Hammarstrom scored the game winning goal which was assisted by Connor Perdue. This was then followed up by Mikael Jarvinen scoring the insurance goal which also was a power play goal assisted by Jesse Nuutinen and Mason Wight during the second period.


One game was played on Sunday, September 15, 2024

  •  This match-up was between the Onatrio Jr. Reign and the San Diego Sabers which was located at Carlsbad Icetown. 

    • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (8-3) on  San Diego Sabers’ home ice. 

    • GOALTENDING: Ontario Jr. Reigns’ Michael Pelc saved 31 out of 32 shots faced and secured the win. Mikhail Saratovtsev was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 22 out of 25 shots before Carson McDonald took over and saved 17 out of 22 shots. 

    • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reigns’ Denver Craig scored the game winning goal and the insurance goal which were both unassisted.

    • HAT-TRICK:

      • Denver Craig recorded his second hat-trick during the second period of this game.

 

Overall, Week 1 of the 2024-2025 regular season for the USPHL Pacific Division was exciting with the first overtime win for the Fresno Monsters and two hat-tricks recorded by Ontario Jr. Reigns’ Denver Craig. 


Week 2 includes a highly anticipated three-game series between the Bakersfield Roughnecks and the Ventura Vikings as well as between the Long Beach Bombers will face the Lake Tahoe Lakers. We will also see the San Diego Sabers face the Ontario Jr. Reign again in a two-game series.

  • The Bakersfield Roughnecks will face the Ventura Vikings on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 7:00 PM PDT. This game will be located at Iceoplex Simi Valley. 

  • The Long Beach Bombers will face the Lake Tahoe Lakers on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 7:30 PM PDT. This game will be located at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena

Saturday, September 21, 2024

  • The Bakersfield Roughnecks will face the Ventura Vikings on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 7:30 PM PDT. This game will be located at Iceoplex Simi Valley.

  • The Long Beach Bombers will face the Lake Tahoe Lakers on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 7:30 PM PDT. This game will be located at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena

  • The San Diego Sabers will face the Ontario Jr. Reign on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 8:30 PM PDT at Ontario Center Ice Arena.

Sunday, September 22, 2024

  • The Bakersfield Roughnecks will face the Ventura Vikings on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM PDT. This game will be located at Iceoplex Simi Valley.

  • The Long Beach Bombers will face the Lake Tahoe Lakers on  Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 12:00 PM PDT. This game will be located at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena.

  • The San Diego Sabers will face the Ontario Jr. Reign on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM PDT at Carlsbad Icetown.
