Lake Tahoe Lakers

Although the Lake Tahoe Lakers have missed the 2026 USPHL Playoffs, this does not dismiss their performance during the 2025-26 USPHL Regular Season. The Lake Tahoe Lakers ended the regular season in seventh place with 19 points in the Pacific division and have a season record of 9-36-1-0. Out of their 9 wins, the Lakers secured one shutout and one overtime win. The Lakers’ opened the regular season with a 3-0 series sweep against the Rogue Valley Royals and ended the regular season with an eleven-game losing streak which started on February 1, 2026 and ended with the regular season on March 1, 2026 . The longest winning streak that the Lake Tahoe Lakers maintained was their three-game winning streak against the Rogue Valley Royals which occurred on September 19, 2025 and ended after their loss to the Fresno Monsters on October 3, 2025.


PP & PK Success Rate and Top Scorers

The Lake Tahoe Lakers ended the regular season with a 16.4% power play success rate and a solid 66.0% penalty killing rate. The team’s points, goals, and assists leader was #14 Leo Matthew Duggan IV (22G, 20A) who has 42 points recorded in the regular season.

Players of the Week 

There was one Lake Tahoe Lakers player that was named the Stars of the Week during the 2025-26 regular season which included:

Goaltending 

In regards to goaltending, LBB had four active goaltenders that played during this season. The following players and stats included:

  • #37 Brooks Smyrski ended this season with a record of 3-5-0-0 and a 0.859 SV% in 9 games played. An impressive stat to highlight included the following:

    • 1 overtime win 

      • 3-2 OTW against San Diego Sabers on 12/19/25

  • #31 Liam Freel ended this season with a record of 2-6-0-0 and a 0.865 SV% in 12 games played.

  • #33 Ryder Selbee ended this season with a record of 2-13-1-0 and a 0.864 SV% in 16 games played 

  • #1 Kohen Pirrone Gascon ended this season with a record of 1-7-0-0 and a 0.829 SV% in 10 games played. An impressive stat to highlight included the following:

    • 1 shutout win 

      • 8-0 against Colorado Fighting Elk on 12/17/25


Las Vegas Showcase (December 16-19, 2025)

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers vs. McCall Smokejumpers (5-2)

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers vs. Colorado Fighting Elk (8-0)

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers vs. Bremerton Sockeyes (1-4)

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers vs. San Diego Sabers (3-2)


When looking at the stats, the Lake Tahoe Lakers put up a total of 17 goals, 174 shots on goal, and 40 penalty minutes during the four games that were played during this series. They also ended with a 37.8% power play success rate and a 78.9% penalty kill success rate. The Lake Tahoe Lakers’ points leader was #15 Carver Alford (4G, 3A) who ended this series with 7 points. In regards to goaltending, a couple highlights include a shutout by #1 Kohen Pirrone in Game 2 against the Colorado Fighting Elk and an overtime win by #37 Brooks Smyrski in Game 4 against the San Diego Sabers. The Lake Tahoe Lakers ended this series, 3-1, through hard work and perseverance.


Against the rest of the Pacific Division: 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Ontario Jr. Reign

    • LTL lost all six games played against OJR during the 2025-26 regular season (0-6). During these matchups, OJR outscored (43G vs. 9G), outshot (289 SOG vs. 170 SOG) and dominated with their special teams (40.5 PP% vs. 5.71 PP% and 94.3 PK% vs. 59.5 PK%). 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. San Diego Sabers (SDS)

    • LTL won one out of four games played against SDS during the 2025-26 regular season (1-3) which included an overtime win on December 19, 2025. During their previous matchups, SDS outscored LTL (19G vs. 8G) despite LTL outshooting SDS (116 SOG vs. 110 SOG). SDS did have the advantage when it came to their special teams (36.6 PP% vs. 15.8 PP% and 84.2 PK% vs. 63.2 PK%).  

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Long Beach Bombers (LBB) 

    • LTL won one out of the six games played against LBB during the 2025-26 regular season (1-5). LBB outscored LTL (35G vs. 18G) despite being outshot (287 SOG vs. 226) by LTL during the six times they played against one another. Both special team success rates were relatively similar to one another with LBB having a slight advantage (35.3 PP% vs. 35.0 PP% and 65.0 PK% vs. 64.7 PK%).  

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Henderson Force (HNF)

    • LTL lost all six games played against HNF during the regular season (0-6). During their previous matchups, HNF outscored (41G vs. 13G), outshot (298 SOG vs. 173 SOG), and found more success with their special teams (50.0 PP% vs. 11.1 PP% and 88.9 PK% vs. 50.0 PK%) compared to LTL. 

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs.  Fresno Monsters (FRM) 

    • LTL lost all six games played against FRM during the 2025-26 regular season (0-6). During these losses, FRM had the advantage over puck possession (302 SOG vs. 167 SOG), overall goals scored (59G vs. 12G), and with their special teams (38.6 PP% vs. 20.0 PP% and 80.0 PK% vs. 61.4 PK%). LTL ended up spending more time in the penalty box compared to FRM (146 PMI vs. 106 PMI).

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers (LTL) vs. Ventura Vikings (VNV)

    • LTL lost all six games played against VNV during the 2026-26 regular season (0-6). During these six games, VNV outscored (36G vs. 8G), outshot (246 SOG vs. 203 SOG), and found more success with their special teams (23.1 PP% vs. 7.69 PP% and 92.3 PK% vs. 76.9 PK%) compared to LTL. 


The Lake Tahoe Lakers’ absence during the 2026 Premier Playoffs does not take away from their commendable efforts during the regular season. Despite all of their struggles during the regular season, the team did have a couple memorable moments and accomplishments which they should be proud of. With their upset from the 2025-26 regular season, they will certainly come back next season with vengeance and determination to place higher in the standings and possibly get a chance at the playoffs.
