Oct. 17-20, 2024 USPHL Pacific Division Recap

Oct. 17-20, 2024 of the USPHL 2024-2025 Pacific Division kicked off with a three-game series for the San Diego Sabers and Ventura Vikings, as well as a two-game series for the Ontario Jr. Reign and the Long Beach Bombers.


Three-Game Series: Ventura Vikings vs. Henderson Force 

Oct. 18-20, 2024

The Ventura Vikings traveled to America First Center Rink 1 for a three-game series against Henderson Force. This series started with an intense Game 1 which ended with a final score of 6-1 in the Henderson Force’s favor. The Ventura Vikings made a huge comeback in Game 2 of the series after winning in the shootout with a final score of 6-5. Game 3 finished off with Henderson Force winning Game 3 with a final score of 5-3.

Game 1 | Friday, October 18, 2024 | Henderson Force 6, Ventura Vikings 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation victory for the Henderson Force (6-1) at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Nicholas Perry was able to secure the win for the Henderson Force after saving 15 out of 16 shots on goal. Joshua Arsenault started in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 20 to 25 shots on goal before Zachary Follo took over midway through the second period. After taking over, Zachary Follo saved a total of 14 out of 15 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Shane Dean scored the game winning goal 1 minute and 46 seconds into the second period which was later followed up by Reese Hicks scoring the insurance goal shortly after. 

Game 2 | Saturday, October 19, 2024 | Ventura Vikings 6, Henderson Force 5

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a shootout win for the Ventura Vikings (6-5) at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Zachary Follo able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings after not letting any goals slip past him in the shootout and saving a total of 39 out of 44 shots on goal during regulation and overtime. Jacob Kaput started in net for Henderson Force and saved 8 out of 12 shots on goal before Michael Burgos took over for the remainder of the game after a little over halfway through the first period. Michael Burgos saved a total of 16 out of 17 shots on goal, however, was unable to stop one of Venutra Vikings’ shootout goals which ultimately secured their win. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ventura Vikings’ Calvin Ruggiero scored the game winning shootout goal. 

Game 3 | Sunday, October 20, 2024 | Henderson Force 5, Ventura Vikings 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force (5-3) at America First Center Rink 1.

  • GOALTENDING: Nicholas Perry was able to secure the win for the Henderson Force after saving 18 out of 21 shots on goal. Zachary Follo was in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 32 out of 37 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Landen Hindman scored the power play game winning goal early in the third period and Asher Taylor later scored the insurance goal. 


SDS vs. LBB, OJR, and LTL

Oct. 17-20, 2024

The San Diego Sabers traveled to Lakewood Ice to start off a three-game road trip series against the Long Beach Bombers. Game 1 of the three-game series ended with a final score of 6-2 in the Long Beach Bombers’ favor. The San Diego Sabers made their way back home for Game 2 of the series to face the Ontario Jr. Reign which ended in the Sabers’ favor with a final score of 3-2. Game 3 finished off with the San Diego Sabers continuing their winning streak after defeating the Lake Tahoe Lakers 4-2 on home ice. Long Beach Bombers’ Magnus Lowham recorded a hat-trick in Game 1 of this series.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Long Beach Bombers (6-2) at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Ethan Fitzgerald able to secure the win for the Long Beach Bombers after only letting two goals slip past him. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Long Beach Bombers’ Jeremy Loosmore scored the game winning goal which was later followed by Magnus Lowham scoring the insurance goal during the second period. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Long Beach Bombers’ Magnus Lowham recorded his 2nd hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 

Game 2 | Friday, October 18, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 3, Ontario Jr. Reign 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the San Diego Sabers (3-2) at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 52 out of 54 shots on goal. Nikolas Charles was in net for Ontario Jr. Reign and saved a total of 47 out of 50 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Sabers’ Briar Dickson scored the game winning goal with 12 seconds left in the second period. 

Game 3 | Sunday, October 20, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 4, Lake Tahoe Lakers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the San Diego Sabers (4-2) at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 51 out of 53 shots on goal. Timon Franzen was in net for Lake Tahoe Lakers and saved a total of 30 out of 33 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Sabers’ Liam Krupcyznski scored a shorthanded game winning goal early in the third period. Sabers’ Sammy Albano scored an empty net insurance goal with 35 seconds left on the clock.


Ontario Jr. Reign’s two-game series

Oct. 18-19, 2024

The Ontario Jr. Reign traveled to Carlsbad Icetown to start off a two-game series against the San Diego Sabers. Game 1 of the two-game series ended with a 3-2 loss against the San Diego Sabers. The Jr. Reign made their way back home for Game 2 of the series to face the Lake Tahoe Lakers which ended with a 4-3 overtime victory for the Ontario Jr. Reign.

Game 2 | Saturday, October 19, 2024 | Ontario Jr. Reign 4, Lake Tahoe Lakers 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an overtime win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (4-3) at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Domenik McInenly able to secure the win for Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 47 out of 50 shots on goal. Perry Jacobs was in net for the Lake Tahoe Lakers and saved a total of 34 out of 41 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Kayden Buffalo scored the game winning overtime goal which was assisted by Luke Cannon and Denver Craig.


Two-Game Series: Long Beach Bombers vs LTL and SDS

The Long Beach Bombers faced the San Diego Sabers and the Lake Tahoe Lakers on home ice. Game 1 resulted in a triumphant 6-2 victory against the San Diego Sabers. They carried the momentum from their Game 1 victory into Game 2, however, they fell short in overtime which ended in the Lake Tahoe Lakers' favor (6-5).

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Long Beach Bombers (6-2) at Lakewood Ice.

Game 2 | Friday, October 18, 2024 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 6, Long Beach Bombers 5

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a thrilling 6-5 overtime victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Miles Gordon able to secure the win for Lake Tahoe Lakers. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Brian Erte scored the game winning goal 36 seconds into overtime.


Overall, Week 6 of the 2024-2025 regular season of the USPHL Pacific Division was full of close matchups and triumphant victories. Some memorable moments from this week included: The San Diego Sabers securing their first win against the Ontario Jr. Reign on Friday, October 18, 2024 and Lake Tahoe Lakers on Sunday, October 20, 2024; Ventura Vikings shootout win as well as a Lake Tahoe Lakers overtime win on Friday, October 18, 2024 and Ontario Jr. Reign’s overtime win on Saturday, October 19, 2024. There was 1 hat-trick recorded this past weekend which was done by Long Beach Bombers’ Magnus Lowham (2 HT). Looking into this weekend, we have a lot of exciting matchups ahead of us.
