Oct. 11-13, 2024: USPHL Pacific Division Game Recap

Oct. 11-13, 2024 of the USPHL 2024-2025 Pacific Division kicked off with a three-game series for the Lake Tahoe Lakers and Bakersfield Roughnecks, as well as a two-game series for the Ventura Vikings. The San Diego Sabers also faced Ontario Jr. Reign in the Ice In Paradise Showcase. 


Ice in Paradise Showcase

The San Diego Sabers and Ontario Jr. Reign faced each other at Iceoplex Simi Valley for the Ice in Paradise Showcase this past weekend. The game ended with a 5-2 win for the Ontario Jr. Reign. Ontario Jr. Reign’s Denver Craig recorded a hat-trick during this game. 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (5-2) at Iceoplex Simi Valley. 

  • GOALTENDING: Domenik McInenly able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 39 out of 41 shots on goal. Viktor Pasztor was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 31 out of 36 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Denver Craig scored the game winning goal for the Ontario Jr. Reign 36 seconds into the third period and then later scored the insurance goal to help secure their win. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Denver Craig recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring 3 goals during the third period of the game. 


Ventura Vikings’ Two-Game Series 

Oct. 11-12, 2024

Game 1 took place at Carlsbad Icetown where the Ventura Vikings faced the San Diego Sabers on Friday, October 11, 2024 and resulted in a 3-2 shootout win for the San Diego Sabers. The Ventura Vikings then traveled to Iceoplex Simi Valley for Game 2 against Henderson Force. Henderson Force won with a final score of 6-1.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a shootout victory for the San Diego Sabers (3-2)  at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Parker Lewis able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 19 out of 21 shots on goal while Joshua Arsenault was in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 23 out of 25 shots on goal during regulation. In the shootout, both goaltenders stayed in net and Parker Lewis only let one of Ventura Viking’s shootout attempts slip past him which secured the win for the Sabers. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Sammy Albano scored the game winning goal in the shootout. 

Game 2 | Saturday, October 12, 2024 | Henderson Force 6, Ventura Vikings 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for Henderson Force (6-1) at  Iceoplex Simi Valley. 

  • GOALTENDING: Michael Burgos able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 22 out of 23 shots on goal. Brasco Cirillo started in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 25 out of 31 shots on goal. Zachary Follo took over for the Vikings in the third and saved all 12 shots on goal that he faced.  

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Shane Dean scored the game winning goal for the Ventura Vikings and Reese Hicks scored the insurance goal during the latter half of the second period. 


Three-Game Series: Lake Tahoe Lakers vs. Fresno Monsters 

Oct. 11-13, 2024

The Fresno Monsters traveled to South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena for a three-game series against the Lake Tahoe Lakers. This series started with an electric 8-2 win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers in Game 1. The Fresno Monsters then won 8-2 Game 2 of the series. Game 3 finished off with the Lake Tahoe Lakers winning 8-5. Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Jose-Jasmir Guseff recorded a hat-trick in Game 1 and Scott McNulty recorded a hat-trick in Game 3. Fresno Monsters’ Simon Eriksson recorded his first hat-trick in Game 2 of the three-game series which went in the Lake Tahoe Lakers’ favor overall.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (8-4) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Timon Franzen able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 35 out of 39 shots on goal. Markus Wasastjerna was in net for the Fresno Monsters and saved a total of 49 out of 56 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Carter Lehmann scored the game winning goal in the third period, Taylor Sloan scored the insurance goal 14 seconds after the game winning goal was scored.  

  • HAT-TRICKS: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Jose-Jasmir Guseff recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring three goals during this game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, October 12, 2024 | Fresno Monsters 8, Lake Tahoe Lakers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Fresno Monsters (8-2) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Peter Burke able to secure the win for  the Fresno Monsters after saving 34 out of 36 shots on goal. Miles Gordon started in net for the Lake Tahoe Lakers and saved a total of 16 out of 22 shots on goal before Perry Jacobs took over for the Lakers in the second period. Perry Jacobs saved 16 out of 18 shots on goal by the end of the game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Filipp Papshev scored the game winning goal 1 minute and 33 seconds into the second period which was then followed up by Joseph House scoring the insurance goal.

  • HAT-TRICKS: Fresno Monsters’ Simon Eriksson recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring three goals during this game. 

Game 3 | Sunday, October 13, 2024 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 8, Fresno Monsters 5

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (8-5) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Perry Jacobs able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 38 out of 43 shots on goal. Markus Wasastjerna was in net for the Fresno Monsters and saved a total of 32 out of 40 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Scott McNulty scored the game winning goal for the Lake Tahoe Lakers in the first half of the third period. Patrick Lindbohm scored the insurance goal shortly after the game winning goal was scored. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Tyler Gudjonson recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 


Three-Game Series: Bakersfield Roughnecks vs. Long Beach Bombers 

Oct. 11-13, 2024

The Long Beach Bombers traveled to Valley Childrens Ice Center for a three-game series against the Bakersfield Roughnecks. This series started with an intense Game 1 which ended with a final score of 5-4 in the Long Beach Bombers’ favor. The Bakersfield Roughnecks made a comeback in Game 2 of the series after winning with a final score of 5-2. Game 3 finished off with the Bakersfield Roughnecks winning 7-1.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Long Beach Bombers (5-4) at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Stepan Vedernikov able to secure the win for the Long Beach Bombers after saving 64 out of 68 shots on goal. Stanislav Teplitskyi was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and saved a total of 28 out of 33 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Christopher Porciuncula scored the game winning goal for the Long Beach Bombers with 54 seconds left in the third period.

Game 2 | Saturday, October 12, 2024 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 5, Long Beach Bombers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks (5-2) at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Jakob Barcelona able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after saving 27 out of 29 shots on goal. Ethan Fitzgerald was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 41 out of 45 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Tyler Gyori scored the game winning power play goal early in the third period and Connor Claughton scored the insurance later in the same period for the Bakersfield Roughnecks. 

Game 3 | Sunday, October 13, 2024 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 7, Long Beach Bombers 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Bakersfield Roughnecks (7-1) at Valley Childrens Ice Center 

  • GOALTENDING: Max Sutton able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after saving 22 out of 23 shots on goal. Stepan Vedernikov started in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 10 out of 14 shots on goal before Ludovic Dagenais took over in the later half of the first period. Ludovic Dagenais saved 45 out of 48 shots on goal by the end of the game.  

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Arsiyan Van de Brande scored the game winning goal which was followed up by Tyler Gyori scoring the insurance goal 32 seconds later in the first period.


Overall, Week 5 of the 2024-2025 regular season of the USPHL Pacific Division was full of surprises and commendable achievements. Some memorable moments from this week included: the San Diego Sabers won their first shootout of the regular season; the Long Beach Bombers secured their first win of the season against the Bakersfield Roughnecks; and more athletes recording their first hat-tricks of the regular season. There were 3 hat-tricks recorded this past weekend which included Fresno Monsters’ Simon Eriksson and Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Jose-Jasmir Guseff and Tyler Gudjonson. Looking into this weekend, we have a lot of exciting matchups ahead of us.

  • The Lake Tahoe Lakers will face the Ontario Jr. Reign on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 8:30 PM PDT. This game will be located at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

Sunday, October 20, 2024

  • The Ventura Vikings will face Henderson Force on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 12:00 PM PDT. This game will be located at America First Center Rink 1.

  • The Lake Tahoe Lakers will face the San Diego Sabers on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM PDT. This game will be located at Carlsbad Icetown.
