Oct. 3-6, 2024 - UPSHL Pacific Division Recap

Oct. 3-6, 2024 of the USPHL 2024-2025 Pacific Division kicked off the first official regular season games for the Fresno Monsters against the San Diego sabers who were coming into this week with a three-game win streak. The week included a highly anticipated three-game series for the Lake Tahoe Lakers and the Rouge Valley Royals as well as between Ontario Jr. Reign and Henderson Force. There was also a two-game series against the Long Beach Bombers and the Bakersfield Roughnecks. This weekend was also filled with new win streaks starting, win streaks ending, and a hat-trick recorded.


Fresno Monsters’ 2024-2025 Regular Season Debut 

Oct. 3-6, 2024

The Fresno Monsters made their 2024-2025 Regular Season debut this past weekend in a three-game series. Game 1 was between the Fresno Monsters and the Long Beach Bombers which ended with a final score of 5-1 in the Fresno Monsters’ favor. The Fresno Monsters traveled to Carlsbad where they won 7-2 against the San Diego Sabres in Game 2 of the three-game series. The San Diego Sabers were able to end the Fresno Monsters’ two-game win streak after they took Game 3 with a final score of 4-2. A highlight from this weekend was Jonathan Heidenberg Andersen recording his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season in Game 2 against the San Diego Sabers.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Fresno Monsters with a final score of 5-1at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Peter Burke able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters and only let one goal slip past him by the end of this game.

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Nils Tunbratt scored the game winning goal for the Fresno Monsters which was followed up by Filipp Papshev scoring the insurance goal in the later half of the second period. 

Game 2 | Friday, October 4, 2024 | Fresno Monsters 7, San Diego Sabers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Fresno Monsters with a final score of 7-2 at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Markus Wasastjerna able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving 26 out of 28 shots on goal. Viktor Pasztor was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 16 out of 21 shots on goal before Mikhail Saratovtsev took over in the third period. Mikhail Saratovtsev saved a total of 7 out of 9 shots on goal.

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Simon Eriksson scored the game winning goal for the Fresno Monsters early in the second period. Sebastian Westerlund scored the insurance goal during the second half of the period.  

  • HAT-TRICK: Fresno Monsters' Jonathan Heidenberg Andersen recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring one goal in the second period and then later scoring two goals in the third period. 

Game 3 | Saturday, October 5, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 4, Fresno Monsters 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the San Diego Sabers with a final score of 4-2 in the San Diego Sabers at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Mikhail Saratovtsev able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 36 out of 38 shots on goal. Peter Burke was in net for the first period of the game and saved a total of 10 out of 13 shots on goal before Markus Wasastjernatook over to the remainder of the game and saved all shots on goal that he faced. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Knut Hornkvist scored the game winning goal towards the end of the first period and Liam Krupcyznski scored the insurance goal for the San Diego Sabers.


Bakersfield Roughnecks face the Long Beach Bombers 

Oct. 4-5, 2024 

The Bakersfield Roughnecks faced the Long Beach Bombers in a two-game series this past weekend. This resulted in a 6-2 win in Game 1 and a 6-4 win in Game 2 of the two-game series.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation/overtime victory for the Bakersfield Roughnecks with a final score of 6-2 at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Jakob Barcelona was able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks.

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Tyler Gyori scored the game winning goal and Christopher Larochelle scored the insurance goal in the first half of the second period for the Bakersfield Roughnecks. 

Game 2 | Saturday, October 5, 2024 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 6, Long Beach Bombers 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks at Lakewood Ice with a final score of 6-4. Further stats from this game are not available at this time. 


Lake Tahoe Lakers face the Rogue Valley Royals

Oct. 4-6, 2024

The Lake Tahoe Lakers faced the Rogue Valley Royals in a three-game series this past weekend. This resulted in a triumphant weekend where Lake Tahoe swept the Rogue Valley Royals 9-2 in Game 1, 5-2 in Game 2, and 11-3 in Game 3.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after scoring 9-2 at The RRRink. 

  • GOALTENDING: Timon Franzen able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 23 out of 25 shots on goal. Kaeden Edstrom was in net for the Rogue Valley Royals and saved a total of 58 out of 67 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Scott McNulty scored the game winning goal in the first period and Tyson Jacobs scored the insurance goal in the beginning of the second period for the Lake Tahoe Lakers. 

Game 2 | Saturday, October 5, 2024 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 5, Rogue Valley Royals 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after scoring 5-2 at The RRRink. 

  • GOALTENDING: Perry Jacobs able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 22 out of 24 shots on goal. Nikolai Ershov was in net for the Rogue Valley Royals and saved a total of 55 out of 60 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Jose-Jasmir Guseff scored the game winning goal and Tyson Jacobs scored the insurance goal for the Lake Tahoe Lakers. 

Game 3 | Sunday, October 6, 2024 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 11, Rogue Valley Royals 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after scoring 11-3 at The RRRink.  

  • GOALTENDING: Liam Freel able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 17 out of 20 shots on goal. Francesco Sciabbarrasi was in net for the Rogue Valley Royals and saved a total of 16 out of 24 shots on goal before Bryson Snow took over for the second and third period of the game. Bryson Snow saved 26 out of 29 shots on goal during the remainder of the game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Chayce Tuton scored the game winning goal and Tyler Gudjonson scored the insurance goal for the Lake Tahoe Lakers.


Ontario Jr. Reign Face Henderson Force

Oct. 4-6, 2024

The Ontario Jr. Reign faced Henderson Force in a three-game series this past weekend. This resulted in a 3-0 shutout in Game 1 and a 1-0 shutout in Game 2. Henderson Force came back with vengeance in game 3 and were able to secure a win with a final score of 5-3.

  • FINAL SCORE: The Ontario Jr. Reign shutout Henderson Force 3-0 at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Domenik McInenly able to secure the win for Ontario Jr. Reign after saving all of Henderson Force’s 21 shots on goal. Michael Burgos was in net for Henderson Force and saved a total of 28 out of 30 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Christopher Lai scored the game winning goal and Denver Craig scored the insurance goal in the second half of the first period for the Ontario Jr. Reign. 

Game 2 | Saturday, October 5, 2024 | Ontario Jr. Reign 1, Henderson Force 0

  • FINAL SCORE: The Ontario Jr. Reign shutout Henderson Force 1-0 at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Nikolas Charles able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving all 33 shots on goal that he faced. Nicholas Perry was in net for Henderson Force and saved 34 out of 35 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Kayden Buffalo scored the game winning goal in the first half of the second period. 

Game 3 | Sunday, October 6, 2024 | Henderson Force 5, Ontario Jr. Reign 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force with a final score of 5-3 at America First Center Rink 1.  

  • GOALTENDING: Michael Burgos able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 31 out of 34 shots on goal. Nikolas Charles was in net for the Ontario Jr. Reign and saved a total of 19 out of 23 shots on goal.. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Shane Dean’s short handed goal in the third period was the game winning goal for Henderson Force. Reese Hicks’ empty net goal was the insurance goal that fully secured the win for Henderson Force late in the third period.  


Overall, Week 4 of the 2024-2025 regular season of the USPHL Pacific Division was exciting and full of memorable moments. The Fresno Monsters made their 2024-2025 regular season debut and the Ontario Jr. Reign recorded two shutouts this past weekend. We also had a 1 hat-trick recorded by Fresno Monsters’ Jonathan Heidenberg Andersen. Looking into this weekend, we have a lot of highly anticipated matchups ahead of us.
