Week 3 - USPHL Pacific Division Recap

Sept. 26-29, 2024 of the USPHL 2024-2025 Pacific Division kicked off the first official regular season games for Henderson Force. The week included a highly anticipated three-game series for the San Diego Sabers as well as between Henderson Force and the Lake Tahoe Lakers. The Ontario Jr. Reign faced the Ventura Vikings and Bakersfield Roughnecks in a two-game series this past weekend. This weekend was filled with new win streaks starting, win streaks ending, and multiple hat-tricks recorded. 


San Diego Sabers Three-game Win Streak

Sept. 26-28, 2024

San Diego Sabers dominated their three-game series this past weekend against the Long Beach Bombers, Bakersfield Roughnecks, and the Ventura Vikings. This resulted in the Sabers finishing the weekend with a three-game win streak after the Sabers won 5-4 against the Long Beach Bombers, 6-3 against the Bakersfield Roughnecks, and 10-4 against the Ventura Vikings. 

 Game 1 | Thursday, September 26, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 5, Long Beach Bombers 4 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the San Diego Sabers (5-4) on the Long Beach Bombers’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Carson McDonald able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers despite letting all 4 of Long Beach Bombers’ shots on goal slip past him. Ludovic Dagenais was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 4 out of 5 shots. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Sammy Albano scored the power play, game winning goal during the third period

  • HAT-TRICKS: San Diego Sabers’ Knut Hornkvist recorded his first hat-trick of the season. Long Beach Bombers’ first hat-trick was also recorded that night by Magnus Lowham.

Game 2 | Friday, September 27, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 6, Bakersfield Roughnecks 3 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the San Diego Sabers (6-3) on the Bakersfield Roughnecks’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 48 out of 51 shots on goal. Stanislav Teplitskyi was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks  for the first and second period of the game and saved 24 out of 30 shots before Jakob Barcelona took over in the third period. Barcelona saved all 4 shots that he faced during the third period. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Liam Krupcyznski scored the game winning goal in the second period of the game and Sam Bailey scored the insurance goal during the third period. 

Game 3 | Saturday, September 28, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 10, Ventura Vikings 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant victory for the San Diego Sabers (10-4) on the San Diego Sabers’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Parker Lewis able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 22 out of 26 shots. Brasco Cirillo was in net for the Ventrua Vikings and saved a total of 29 out of 39 shots on goal before Zachary Follo took over late in the third period and faced no shots. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Sammy Albano scored the game winning goal 15 seconds into the third period and Caleb Murray scored the insurance goal within the first 5 minutes of the period. 

  • PENALTY SHOTS: San Diego Sabers’ Briar Dickson successfully scored on his penalty shot attempt in the first period of the game against Brasco Cirillo, the Ventrua Vikings’ goaltender. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: San Diego Sabers’ Liam Krupcyznski recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 


Henderson Force Ends Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Five-Game Win Streak 

Sept. 27-29, 2024

The Lake Tahoe Lakers faced Henderson Force for the first time this 2024-2025 regular season in a three-game series this past weekend. The Lake Tahoe Lakers took the first two games of the series after winning Game 1 (4-1) and Game 2 (6-1). However, Henderson Force did not go down without a fight and came back with vengeance in Game 3 which ended Lake Tahoe Lakers’ win streak (6-4).


Game 1 | Friday, September 27, 2024 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 4, Henderson Force 1 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (4-1) on the Lake Tahoe Lakers’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Perry Jacobs was able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 33 out of 34 shots. Michael Burgos was in net for Henderson Force and saved a total of 45 out of 49 shots. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Reece Hart scored the game winning goal for the Lake Tahoe Lakers during the second period and Jose-Jasmir Guseff scored the insurance goal during the third period. 

Game 2 | Saturday, September 28, 2024 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 6, Henderson Force 1 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (6-1) on the Lake Tahoe Lakers’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Timon Franzen able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 19 out 20 shots on goal. Nicholas Perry was in net for the Henderson Force and saved a total of 41 out of 47 shots. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Scott McNulty scored the game winning goal in the latter half of the first period. 

Game 3 | Sunday, September 29, 2024 | Henderson Force 6, Lake Tahoe Lakers 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force (6-4) on the Lake Tahoe Lakers’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Michael Burgos was  able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 49 out of 53 shots on goal. Perry Jacobs was in net for the Lake Tahoe Lakers and saved a total of 30 out of 36 shots.  

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Handerson Force’s Reese Hicks scored the game winning goal late in the second period which was followed up by Landen Hindman scoring the insurance goal 38 seconds later to extend their lead. 


An End Ontario Jr. Reign’s Three-Game Win Streak

Sept. 27-28, 2024

The Ontario Jr. Reign played a two-game series this past weekend against the Ventura Vikings and the Bakersfield Roughnecks. The Ontario Jr. Reign continued their win streak after their astonishing win against the Ventura Vikings in Game 1 of their two-game series (9-2). The Bakersfield Roughnecks were able to take the crown from the Ontario Jr. Reign and end their win streak after a hard fought battle in Game 2 which ended with a final score of 3-2 in the Bakersfield Roughnecks’ favor. 

Game 1 | Friday, September 27, 2024 | Ontario Jr. Reign 9, Ventura Vikings 2 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation victory for the Ontario Jr. Reign (9-2) on the Ontario Jr. Reigns’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Ethan Sellwood able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 23 out of the 32 shots faced during this game. Leo Yates was in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved 15 out of the 17 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Luke Cannon scored the game winning goal during the first period and Denver Craig scored the insurance goal during the second period. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Luke Cannon recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring three goals during the first period. He would later score his fourth goal of the game during the second period. 

Game 2 | Saturday, September 28, 2024 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 3, Ontario Jr. Reign 2 

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks (3-2) on the Bakersfield Roughnecks’ home ice. 

  • GOALTENDING:Jakob Barcelona able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after he saved 42 out of 44 shots on goal. Nikolas Charles was in net for the Ontario Jr. Reign saved a total of 29 out of 32 shots. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Louis Allen scored the game winning goal during the first few minutes of the second period. 


Overall, Week 3 of the 2024-2025 regular season of the USPHL Pacific Division was memorable for the San Diego Sabers as they won their first game of the season. We also had a total of 4 hat-tricks this weekend which were recorded by Long Beach Bombers’ Magnus Lowham, Ontario Jr. Reign’s Luke Cannon, and San Diego Sabers’ Knut Hornkvist and Liam Krupcyznski.
