The San Diego Sabers kicked off their game series at Ontario Center Ice Arena where they faced the Ontario Jr. Reign. Game 1 of the three-game series resulted in a 5-2 win for the Sabers against the Jr. Reign. The Sabers then traveled back home for the remainder of the series. Although Game 2 against the Colorado Fighting Elk was canceled due to transportation issues, this gave time for the Sabers to prepare for their matchup against Henderson Force. The Sabers closed out their three-game series with a 5-2 win against Henderson Force. After a successful series, they are now on a five-game winning streak.

Game 1 | San Diego Sabers 5, Ontario Jr. Reign 2
The San Diego Sabers started their three-game series strong and struck first with a power play goal scored by Sam Bailey (1-0). Sabers’ Briar Dickson extended the Sabers’ lead and momentarily made it a 2-0 game before the Ontario Jr. Reign answered back (2-1). This did not stop the Sabers’ momentum as Sammy Albano scored the game winning goal late in the second period and made it a two-goal game (3-1). The Ontario Jr. Reign answered back early in the third period to make it a one-goal game, however, the Sabers finished the game with a final score of 5-2 after Sammy Albano and Kai Shepherd scored the last two empty net goals of the game. Sabers’ goaltender, Viktor Pasztor, saved a total of 38 out of 40 shots on goal and the Sabers ended the game with a total of 39 shots on goal against Ryan Hicks, the Ontario Jr. Reign’s goaltender.
The Sabers ended Game 1 with a final score of 5-2 which also extended their win streak to a four-game winning streak.

Game 3 | San Diego Sabers 5, Henderson Force 2
San Diego Sabers’ Captain, Liam Krupcyznski, got the team on the board first after scoring a goal in the second half of the first period (1-0). Although Henderson Force took over during the first 5 minutes of the second period (1-2), the San Diego Sabers regained momentum and scored three more goals before the period ended. The three goals in the second period were scored by Aidan Cosgrove (power play goal), Sam Bailey (power play game winning goal), and Knut Hornkvist (insurance goal). Liam Krupcyznski closed out the game for the Sabers with one last goal scored 54 seconds into the third period and made the final score 5-2 in the Sabers’ favor. Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 33 out of 35 shots on goal. Nicholas Perry was in net for Henderson Force and saved a total of San Diego Sabers’ 33 out of 38 shots on goal.
The Sabers have extended their three-game winning streak to a five-game winning streak after a very successful two-game sweep. They also have moved up in the standings from 4th place to 3rd place with 24 points. The team goes into next week’s matchups with a hunger to keep that streak going and to keep climbing up in the Pacific Standing.
