Game 1: Long Beach Bombers 6, San Diego Sabers 2

The first period remained scoreless despite both teams having a few power play opportunities. The Long Beach Bombers struck first with a goal 44 seconds into the second period and would score another two goals before the San Diego Sabers decided to do a goalie change midway through the period. Unfortunately, the Sabers’ goalie change from Carson McDonald to Mikhail Saratovtsev was not able to fully stop the Long Beach Bombers’ momentum as they were able to score another two goals on Saratovtsev and extend their lead to 5-0. Towards the end of the second period, the Sabers were able to get onto the board after Knut Hornkvist scored a thrilling power play goal that was assisted by Aidan Cosgrove (5-1). The Long Beach Bombers opened up the third period and made it a five-goal game once again (6-1). Sam Bailey answered back with a power play goal in the middle of the period which cut the goal-deficit by 4. The Sabers made a great effort to make a comeback in the third period, however, the Long Beach Bombers were able to secure a 6-2 win with strong goaltending by Ethan Fitzgerald and Magnus Lowham recording his second hat-trick of the season.

Game 2: San Diego Sabers 3, Ontario Jr. Reign 2

The San Diego Sabers’s resilience and determination to secure their first win against Ontario Jr. Reign after an unfortunate Game 1 loss fueled the Sabers’ momentum throughout this matchup. After the Jr. Reign struck first and scored a little over halfway through the first period, Sabers’ Sammy Albano answered back and scored the game-tying goal (1-1). Knut Hornkvist extended the Sabers’ lead by one-goal after successfully scoring on their power play opportunity (2-1). Although the Jr. Reign did answer back, this didn't phase the Sabers as they were able to regain their one-goal lead after Briar Dickson scored with 2 seconds left in the second period. The Sabers were able to hold onto their lead and take the crown from the Jr. Reign after a scoreless third period. Both goaltenders had great performances today, however, Sabers’ Viktor Pasztor came out on top after saving 52 out of 54 shots on goal. Overall, it was a great, valiant effort by the San Diego Sabers to secure this hard fought win against the Jr. Reign.
