Feb. 7-9, 2025 of the USPHL 2024-2025 Pacific Division kicked off with a game against Henderson Force and the Iron County Yeti as well as multiple two-game and three-game series. Read about the surprising outcomes from this past week which impact the USPHL Pacific Division Standings in the race to the playoffs.   


Henderson Force vs. Iron County Yeti

Feb. 7, 2025

Henderson Force traveled to KJ's Ice Barn where they faced Iron County Yeti this week. This game resulted in a 2-0 shutout for Henderson force who are now on a four-game winning streak. This win helps Henderson Force maintain their position in the race to the playoffs.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with 2-0 shutout for Henderson Force at KJ's Ice Barn. 

  • GOALTENDING: Nicholas Perry able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving all 56 shots on goal by the end of this game. Mason Bouchard was in net for the Iron County Yeti and saved a total of 43 out of 45 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Ryan Pavlinskyscored the game winning goal and Reese Hicks scored the insurance goal during the first period of the game. 


San Diego Sabers Two-Game Series 

Feb. 7-8, 2025

The San Diego Sabers faced the Bakersfield Roughnecks in Game 1 of their two-game series this past week on home ice at Carlsbad Icetown. Although San Diego Sabers’ Knut Hornkvist’s third hat-trick of the regular season greatly contributed to the Sabers’ late comeback in Game 1, they were unable to overtake the Bakersfield Roughnecks who won with a final score of 6-5. The Sabers then faced an unfortunate loss against the Fresno Monsters who won Game 2 with a final score of 3-2 win. After being swept, the Sabers find themselves in dire need of multiple wins to stay in the race for the playoffs.

Game 1 | Friday, February 07, 2025 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 6, San Diego Sabers 5

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks (6-5) at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Jakob Barcelona able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after saving 31 out of 36 shots on goal. Viktor Pasztor was initially in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 7 out of 11 shots on goal before Mikhail Saratovtsev took over midway through the first period. Mikhail Saratovtsev saved 21 out of 23 shots on goal by the end of the third period. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Easton Gillespie scored the power play game winning goal late in the first period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: San Diego Sabers’ Knut Hornkvist recorded his third hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season.  

Game 2 | Sunday, February 09, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 3, San Diego Sabers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (3-2) at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Brooks Barofsky able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving 25 out of 27 shots on goal. Viktor Pasztor was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 45 out of 48 shots on goal by the end of the game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Jonathan Heidenberg Andersen scored the game winning goal early in the third period. 


Bakersfield Roughnecks Two-Game Series 

Feb. 7-8, 2025

The Bakersfield Roughnecks traveled to Carlsbad Icetown where they won with a final score of 6-5 against the San Diego Sabers in Game 1 of the series. The Bakersfield Roughnecks then traveled to Lakewood Ice where they faced the Long Beach Bombers in Game 2 of the two-game series. The Long Beach Bombers were able to close out the series with a 3-2 win which broke their losing-streak. The Bakersfield Roughnecks ended up splitting their two-game series this past week.

Game 2 | Saturday, February 08, 2025 | Long Beach Bombers 3, Bakersfield Roughnecks 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Long Beach Bombers (3-2) at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Ethan Fitzgerald able to secure the win for the Long Beach Bombers after saving 44 out of 46. Max Sutton was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and saved a total of 29 out of 32 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Long Beach Bombers’ Hubert Blanchette-Tasse scored the power play game winning goal during the third period of the game. 


Ventura Vikings vs. Colorado Fighting Elk 

Feb. 7-9, 2025

The Colorado Fighting Elk traveled to Iceoplex Simi Valley where they faced the Ventura Vikings in a three-game series this past week. The series was kicked off with a 5-0 shutout for the Ventura Vikings. The Vikings carried the momentum from Game 1 into their double-digit 10-3 victory in Game 2 of the series. The series was closed out with an 8-3 victory for Ventura Vikings. After sweeping this three-game series, the Ventura Vikings are now on a three-game winning streak!

Game 1 | Friday, February 07, 2025 | Ventura Vikings 5, Colorado Fighting Elk 0

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a 5-0 shutout victory for the Ventura Vikings at Iceoplex Simi Valley. 

  • GOALTENDING: Brasco Cirillo able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings after saving all 24 shots on goal by the end of the game. Jacob Larsen was in net for the Colorado Fighting Elk and saved a total of 35 out of 40 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Reese Tittle scored the game winning goal and Kelson Wuttunue scored the insurance goal during the first period of the game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, February 08, 2025 | Ventura Vikings 10, Colorado Fighting Elk 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Ventura Vikings (10-3) at Iceoplex Simi Valley. 

  • GOALTENDING: Zachary Follo able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings after saving 30 out of 33 shots on goal by the end of the game. Josh Schmitz was in net for the Colorado Fighting Elk and saved a total of 27 out of 30 shots on goal by the end of the game. Jet Walls did stay in net for 10 minutes and 2 seconds and did not save the three shots on goal that he faced before Josh Schmitzreturned in net for the Colorado Fighting Elk. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ventura Vikings’ Jett McCullum scored the game winning goal and Joseph Lawrence scored the insurance goal during the first period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Ventura Vikings’ Jett McCullum recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring three goals during the first period of this game. 

Game 3 | Sunday, February 09, 2025 | Ventura Vikings 8, Colorado Fighting Elk 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for the Ventura Vikings (8-3) at Iceoplex Simi Valley. 

  • GOALTENDING: Joshua Arsenault able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings after saving 15 out of 18 shots on goal. Kaeden Aberle was in net for the Colorado Fighting Elk and saved a total of 31 out of 39 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ventura Vikings’ Joseph Lawrence scored the game winning goal late in the first period and opened the second period with the insurance goal of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: After scoring three goals during this game, Ventura Vikings’ Joseph Lawrence recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 


Fresno Monsters Three-Game Series 

Feb. 7-9, 2025

The Fresno Monsters traveled to Ontario Center Ice Arena where they faced the Ontario Jr. Reign in Game 1 and Game 2 of the three-game series this week. After a tough 4-1 loss in Game 1 of the series, the Fresno Monsters made a huge comeback in Game 2 with a 6-4 win against the Ontario Jr. Reign. The Fresno Monsters then traveled to Carlsbad Icetown where they faced the San Diego Sabers for Game 3 of the series. The Fresno Monsters closed out the week with a 3-2 win against the Sabers which has extended their winning streak to a two-game winning streak!

Game 1 | Friday, February 07, 2025 | Ontario Jr. Reign 4, Fresno Monsters 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (4-1) at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Josh Henson able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 32 out of 33 shots on goal. Brooks Barofsky was in net for the Fresno Monsters and saved a total of 40 out of 44 shots on goal by the end of the game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Carter Demelo scored the power play game winning goal during the second period and Christopher Lai scored the power play insurance goal during the third period of the game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, February 08, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 6, Ontario Jr. Reign 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (6-4) at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Brooks Barofsky able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving 26 out of 30 shots on goal. Josh Henson was initially in net for the Ontario Jr. Reign and saved a total of 21 out of 25 shots on goal before Domenik McInenly took over midway through the second period of the game. Domenik McInenly saved a total of 13 out of 15 shots on goal by the end of the third period. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Sebastian Westerlund scored the power play game winning goal during the second period and Adrian Gomez scored the insurance goal during the third period of the game. 

Game 3 | Sunday, February 09, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 3, San Diego Sabers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (3-2) at Carlsbad Icetown. See further details above in the “San Diego Sabers Two-Game Series” section above. 


Overall, Week 22 of the 2024-2025 USPHL Pacific Division was full of surprising outcomes and impressive wins. Some memorable moments from this week included: Henderson Force’s 2-0 shutout against Iron County Yeti; Ventura Vikings’ 5-0 shutout and double digit (10-3) win against the Colorado Fighting Elk; and the Long Beach Bombers’ breaking their losing-streak. There were 3 hat-tricks recorded this past weekend which included San Diego Sabers’ Knut Hornkvist (3 HT) as well as Ventura Vikings’ Jett McCullum (1 HT) and Joseph Lawrence (1 HT). The results of this week have had a great impact on the USPHl Pacific Division standings and make the next few weeks even more crucial for some teams that are looking to secure their spot in the playoffs.
