Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues (GAME 7)

The Winnipeg Jets won Game 7 and advanced to the Second Round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs after their series against the St. Louis Blues. This game took place at Canada Life Centre and ended with a 2OT 4-3 win.

The Blues opened up Game 7 with an early goal scored by #25 Jordan Kyrou a minute and ten seconds into the first period which give the team a one-goal lead (1-0). After a couple great chances, the score remained stagnant until #71 Mathieu Joseph extended the Blues lead with a wrist shot that slipped past #37 Connor Hellebuyck to make it a 2-0 game. Blues’ goaltender,  #50 Jordan Binnington, remained solid in net to keep it a scoreless game for the Jets and maintain their two-goal lead going into the second period.

The score remained 2-0 in the beginning half of the second period until #91 Cole Perfetti tipped in #82 Kyle Connor’s shot into the net which momentarily made it a one-goal game (2-1). Unfortunately for the Jets, #12 Radek Faska extended the Blues’ lead by three-goals which finished the second period, 3-1, in the Blues' favor.

The third period also remained scoreless despite the Jets maintaining puck possession throughout the last period of regulation. It wasn’t until the Jets decided to pull their goaltender to have an extra attacker on the ice in the final three minutes of the game when things started to go in their favor. The decision to play 6-on-5 hockey paid off as #7 Vladislav Namestnikov made it a one-goal game with two minutes left on the clock (3-2). They continued to push through on the man-advantage which ultimately led to the game-tying goal being scored by #91 Perfetti with two seconds left in regulation (3-3). This electrifying goal by the Jets forced the teams into overtime in a sudden death Game 7.

Both teams had great chances to secure their Game 7 win, however, Jets’ #37 Hellebuyck and #50 Binnington remained strong in net and forced 2OT after a scoreless 1OT. In the end, #17 C. Adam Lowry secured the Jets’ game winning goal and punched their ticket into the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
