Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues (GAME 6)

The St. Louis Blues won Game 6 in the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Winnipeg Jets and forced Game 7. This game took place at Enterprise Center and ended with a final score of 5-2 in the Blues’ favor.

Enterprise Center grew with excitement after the Blues opened up Game 6 with a goal scored by #6 Philip Broberg early in the first period (1-0). Despite both teams playing a physical game and having great scoring chances, the goaltending performances by Jets’ #37 Connor Hellebuyck and Blues’ #50 Jordan Binnington kept it a 1-0 game in the Blues’ favor going into the second period.

The Jets were momentarily able to break their goal deficit when #36 Morgan Barron elevated the puck and slipped it past #50 Binnington. This goal was quickly under review and was waved off after a successful Offside Coach’s Challenge by the Blues which kept it a 1-0 game in their favor. Although the Jets continued to struggle on their previous man-advantages, #91 Cole Perfetti was able to break through and make it a 1-1 game after batting the puck and scoring a power play goal. The game remained tied, 1-1, until the Blues regained momentum and scored four unanswered goals in the latter half of the second period. The Blues’ scoring streak started off with a goal scored by #26 Nathan Walker which helped the Blues regain their one-goal lead (2-1). Fifty-three seconds later, #10 C. Brayden Schenn extended the Blues’ lead and made it a 3-1 game. After the Captain’s goal, #17 Cam Fowler extended the Jets’ goal deficit to three-goals after he successfully slipped a goal past #37 Hellebuyck (4-1). The Blues closed out the second period with a power play goal scored by #13 Alexey Toropchenko who made it a 5-1 game.

After letting in four goals in the final five minutes of the second period, #1 Eric Comrie started in net for the Jets in the third period. Tempers flared throughout the remainder of regulation which led to multiple man-advantages and penalty kill units being tested. The Jets were able to cut their goal deficit down to three-goal after #62 Nino Niederreiter successfully scored on one of their multiple power play opportunities (5-2). A sequence of events ensued which involved a Blues power play which turned into 4-on-4 hockey for forty-seven seconds and then finished out with a  scoreless Jets’ power play opportunity for fifty-eight seconds. Despite all of the great scoring opportunities, the rest of the period remained stagnant which helped the Blues to secure their 5-2 win and force Game 7 in this series.
