Ottawa Charge vs. Boston Fleet Summary

Going into the series between the Boston Fleet (62 PTS, 16-5-4-5, 2nd Seed) and Ottawa Charge (44 PTS, 9-8-1-12, 4th Seed), many would have believed that the Boston Fleet would have had the upper hand based on the final standings. However, based on the regular season outcomes against one another, it was evident that the Ottawa Charge had an advantage over the Boston Fleet. During the regular season, the Ottawa Charge won three out of four matchups which included two shootout victories and one overtime win. The one regular season win that the Boston Fleet secured against the Ottawa Charge was a Game 3 shootout victory. 


In a similar manner to how the regular season ended, the Ottawa Charge won three out of four games played against the Boston Fleet. During the semifinals, the Boston Fleet’s regular season success only helped them to gain a Game 1 victory which ended with a final score 2-1 on April 30, 2026. After facing a tough start to this series, the Ottawa Charge turned the tides and went on to secure a 3-1 series win by closing out this duel with a three-game winning streak. The successes for the Ottawa Charge started on May 2, 2026 with a Game 2  series-tying win which ended with a final score of 3-1. This was then followed by Ottawa Charge extending their series lead (3-2) on May 8, 2026 after securing an intense 2-1 victory in Game 3. The stakes were higher than ever as these teams entered Game 4 with the Boston Fleet’s playoff run on the line and the Ottawa Charge being one win away from advancing to the finals. Despite fighting tooth-and-nail, the first overtime in this series was forced due to the stellar goaltending by Ottawa Charge’s #33 Gwyneth Philips and Boston Fleet’s #31 Aerin Frankel. Since an extra twenty minutes wasn't enough to break the standstill, a 2OT was ensued which ultimately led to Ottawa Charge winning this series, 3-1, with a 4-3 double overtime victory secured on May 10, 2026.

The unfortunate losses by the Boston Fleet does not take away from their jaw-dropping regular season efforts and admirable fight during the semifinals. Moving forward, we can expect another hard-fought battle by the Ottawa Charge as they are determined to win The Walter Cup.
