Jan. 30- Feb. 2, 2025 USPHL Pacific Division Game Recap

This past week of the USPHL 2024-2025 regular season included a two-game series for the San Diego Sabers as well as multiple three-game series for the Fresno Monsters, Henderson Force, and the Ontario Jr. Reign. After finding a way to maintain control in their respective series, the Fresno Monsters are now on a thirteen-game winning streak, Henderson Force has a three-game winning streak, and the Lake Tahoe Lakers are on a two-game winning streak! San Diego Sabers vs. Bakersfield Roughnecks 

Jan. 31-Feb 1, 2025

The San Diego Sabers traveled to Valley Childrens Ice Center to face the Bakersfield Roughnecks in a two-game series this past week. This series started with a 4-3 overtime win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and ended with an impressive 8-1 win for the San Diego Sabers. The Sabers’ win in Game 2 not only helped Liam Krupcyznski record his fifth hat-trick of the regular season but also put the Sabers on a potential winning streak going into their upcoming matchups.

Game 1 | Friday, January 31, 2025 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 4, San Diego Sabers 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an overtime win for the Bakersfield Roughencks (4-3) at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Stanislav Teplitskyi was able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after saving 49 out of 52 shots on goal that he faced by the end of this game. Viktor Pasztor was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 49 out of 53 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Drew Reiger scored the overtime game winning goal. 

Game 2 | Saturday, February 01, 2025 | San Diego Sabers 8, Bakersfield Roughnecks 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation win for the San Diego Sabers (8-1) at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 44 out of 45 shots on goal. Stanislav Teplitskyi was in net for the Bakerseifl Roughnecks and saved a total of 40 out of 46 shots on goal by the end of the game. Liam Luther did step in for Teplitskyi and saved a total of 6 out of 8 shots on goal within the first half of the second period before Teplitskyi returned and finished the remainder of the game.  

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Sam Bailey scored the game winning goal and Briar Dickson scored the insurance goal during the first period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: San Diego Sabers’ Liam Krupcyznski recorded his 5th hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 


Fresno Monsters Sweep the Ventura Vikings!

The Ventura Vikings traveled to  Gateway Ice Center for a three-game series against the Fresno Monsters. This series started with an impressive 9-0 shutout victory for the Fresno Monsters who carried momentum into Game 2 of the series. Game 2 ended with a final score of 5-3 in the Monsters’ favor and with Adrian Gomez recording his first hat-trick of the regular season. The Fresno Monsters maintained control and closed out the series with an impressive 7-1 victory which extended their winning streak to thirteen-games!

Game 1 | Thursday, January 30, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 9, Ventura Vikings 0

  • FINAL SCORE: The Fresno Monsters shutout the Ventura Vikings 9-0 at Gateway Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Peter Burke was able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving all 18 shots on goal that he faced. Ethan Sellwood was initially in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 22 out of 29 shots on goal before Brasco Cirillo took over during the second period of the game. Brasco Cirillo saved a total of 26 out of 28 shots on goal by the end of the third period. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Filipp Papshev scored the game winning goal 1 minute and 44 seconds into the first period and Adrian Gomez scored the insurance goal of the game. 

Game 2 | Friday, January 31, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 5, Ventura Vikings 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (5-3) at Gateway Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Brandon Glover was initially in net for the Fresno Monsters and saved 18 out of 21 shots on goal until Peter Burke took over in the latter half of the second period. Peter Burke helped the Fresno Monsters secure their win after saving the one shot on goal that he faced during the remainder of the game. Brasco Cirillo was in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 54 out of 59 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Adrian Gomez scored the game winning goal and empty net insurance goal during the third period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: After scoring three goals, Adrian Gomez secured his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 

Game 3 | Saturday, February 01, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 7, Ventura Vikings 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (7-1) at Gateway Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Peter Burke able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving 15 out of 16 shots on goal. Brasco Cirillo was initially in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 29 out of 35 shots on goal before Ethan Sellwood took over in the third period of the game. Ethan Sellwood saved 13 out of 14 shots on goal by the end of the third period. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters Connor Perdue scored the game winning goal late in the first period. Emil Hagg later scored the insurance goal for the Fresno Monsters during the second period. 


Henderson Force Sweeps the Long Beach Bombers!

Jan. 31-Feb 2, 2025

The Long Beach Bombers traveled to  America First Center Rink 1 for a three-game series against Henderson Force. Henderson Force kicked off this series with a 5-0 shutout in Game 1 win followed by a 4-1 win in Game 2. This three-game series closed out with a 6-0 shutout victory for Henderson Force. After sweeping the Long Beach Bombers in their three-game series against one another, Henderson Force is now on a three-game winning streak!

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a 5-0 shutout for Henderson Force after a strong performance on home ice at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Nicholas Perry able to secure the win for Henderson Force  after saving all 25 shots on goal that he faced. Ludovic Dagenais was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 60 out 65 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Reese Hicks scored the game winning goal early in the first period and Elyjah Sue scored the power play insurance goal during the second period of the game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, February 01, 2025 | Henderson Force 4, Long Beach Bombers 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force (4-1) at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Jacob Kaput able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 22 out of 23 shots on goal. Stepan Vedernikov was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 52 out of 56 shots on goal by the end of the game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Pavel Yevstyagin scored the game winning goal and Anthony Chateauvert scored the insurance goal with 55 seconds left in the second period. 

Game 3 | Sunday, February 02, 2025 | Henderson Force 6, Long Beach Bombers 0

  • FINAL SCORE: Henderson Force shutout the Long Beach Bombers 6-0 at America First Center Rink 1.  

  • GOALTENDING: Jacob Brumm able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving all 27 shots on goal that he faced during this game. Liam Gacek was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 59 out of 65 shots on goal by the end of the third period. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Ryan Pavlinsky scored the power play game winning goal with 14 seconds left of the first period. Christopher Bruder later scored the power play insurance goal early in the second period.


Ontario Jr. Reign vs. Lake Tahoe Lakers

Jan. 31-Feb 2, 2025

The Ontario Jr. Reign traveled to South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena where they faced the Lake Tahoe Lakers in a three-game series this week. After a very intense Game 1, the Ontario Jr. Reign were able to secure a 3-2 shootout win against the Lake Tahoe Lakers. After an unfortunate loss, the Lake Tahoe Lakers regrouped and tied the two-game series with a 4-2 win in Game 2 of the series. The Lake Tahoe Lakers carried their momentum from the previous game and closed out the series with a 4-3 overtime win. The Ontario Jr. Reign’s six-game winning streak comes to an end as the Lake Tahoe Lakers are now on a two-game winning streak!

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a shootout victory for the Ontario Jr. Reign (3-2) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Josh Henson able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 27 out of 29 shots on goal. Perry Jacobs was in net for the Lake Tahoe Lakers and saved a total of 31 out of 33 shots on goal by the end of the game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Christopher Lai scored the game winning goal during the third round of the shootout. 

Game 2 | Saturday, February 01, 2025 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 4, Ontario Jr. Reign 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (4-2) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Perry Jacobs able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 44 out of 46 shots on goal. Ryan Hicks, who was in net for the Ontario Jr. Reign, saved a total of 22 out of 26 shots on goal by the end of the third period 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Jose-Jasmir Guseff scored the short handed game winning goal and Cameron Cote scored the insurance goal of the game. 

Game 3 | Sunday, February 02, 2025 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 4, Ontario Jr. Reign 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an overtime victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (4-3) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Timon Franzen able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 37 out of 40 shots on goal. Josh Henson was in net for the Ontario Jr. Reign and saved a total of 22 out of 26 shots on goal by the end of overtime. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Cameron Cote scored the game winning goal 1 minute and 7 seconds into overtime. 


Overall, Week 21 of the 2024-2025 USPHL Pacific Division was full of thrilling starts to each respective series, hat-tricks, and some surprising outcomes. Some memorable moments from this week included: Fresno Monsters’ 9-0 shutout against the Ventura Vikings; Henderson Force’s 5-0 and 6-0 shutout against the Long Beach Bombers; Bakersfield Roughnecks’ overtime win against the San Diego Sabers; and the Ontario Jr. Reign’s shootout win followed by the Lake Tahoe Lakers’ overtime win in their three-game series against one another. There were 2 hat-tricks recorded this past weekend which were by Fresno Monsters’ Adrian Gomez (1 HT) and San Diego Sabers’ Liam Krupcyznski (5 HT).


Race to the Playoffs

The current standings as of February 3, 2025: 

  1. Lake Tahoe Lakers (63 PTS, 25-10-2-0, three games left)

  2. Fresno Monsters (58 points, 29-8-0-0, nine games left)

  3. Ontario Jr. Reign (52 PTS, 25-10-2-0, nine games left)

  4. Henderson Force (51 points, 25-13-0-1, seven games left)

  5. San Diego Sabers (43 points, 21-14-1-0, ten games left)

  6. Bakersfield Roughnecks (34 points, 15-20-2-2, seven games left)

  7. Ventura Vikings (25 points, 11-27-2-1, five games left)

  8. Long Beach Bombers (18 points, 8-28-2-0, eight games left)


As we get closer to the end of the regular season, the standings have remained consistent with the contending teams continuing to perform and attempt to maintain their current position. Below are some key points to highlight about the race to the playoffs.

  • Lake Tahoe Lakers, Fresno Monsters, and Ontario Jr. Reign continue to battle for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the Pacific Division standings

  • Henderson Force remains in 4th place, however, the San Diego Sabers are still in the hunt.

  • The Bakersfield Roughnecks and Ventura Vikings join the Long Beach Bombers in not making it to the playoffs.
