This past week of the USPHL 2024-2025 regular season included a two-game series for the San Diego Sabers as well as multiple three-game series for the Fresno Monsters, Lake Tahoe Lakers, and the Ventura Vikings. After finding a way to dominate and sweep their respective game series, the San Diego Sabers are now on a two-game winning streak and the Fresno Monsters have extended their winning streak to ten-games! The Ontario Jr. Reign also extended their winning streak to five-games while Henderson Force’s seven-game winning streak has come to an end. Read all about how the games went below!
San Diego Sabers’ Two-Game Series Sweep
Jan. 24-25, 2025
The San Diego Sabers traveled to Iceoplex Simi Valley where they faced the Ventura Vikings in Game 1 of their two-game series for this week. Game 1 resulted in a 6-2 win for the San Diego Sabers. The Sabers then traveled back home to Carlsbad Icetown for Game 2 where they played against the Long Beach Bombers. The Sabers closed out the series with a 6-0 shutout against the Long Beach Bombers. After their successful week, the San Diego Sabers are now on a two-game winning streak!

FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the San Diego Sabers (6-2) at Iceoplex Simi Valley.
GOALTENDING: Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 31 out of 33 shots on goal. Zachary Follo was in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 31 out of 37 shots on goal.
GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Knut Hornkvist scored the power play game winning goal and Caleb Murray scored the insurance goal during the second period of the game.
Game 2 | Saturday, January 25, 2025 | San Diego Sabers 6, Long Beach Bombers 0
FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an impressive 6-0 shutout victory for the San Diego Sabers at Carlsbad Icetown.
GOALTENDING: Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after all 25 shots on goal that he faced during this game. Ethan Fitzgerald was initially in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 29 out of 33 shots on goal before Ludovic Dagenais took over midway through the third period. Ludovic Dagenais saved 7 out of 8 shots on goal by the end of this game.
GAME WINNING GOAL: San Diego Sabers’ Sam Bailey scored the game winning goal during the second period and Payton Hauge scored the insurance goal early in the second period.
Fresno Monsters Sweep Henderson Force
Jan. 24-26, 2025
Henderson Force traveled to the Gateway Ice Center where they faced the Fresno Monsters in a three-game series this week. The Fresno Monsters shutout Henderson Force with a 3-0 victory in Game 1 and kept the momentum rolling into Game 2 which ended with a 6-3 win for the Monsters. This three-game series was closed out with a 5-0 shutout by the Fresno Monsters. After sweeping Henderson Force, the Fresno Monsters are now on a ten-game winning streak.

FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant 3-0 shutout victory for the Fresno Monsters at Gateway Ice Center.
GOALTENDING: Brooks Barofsky able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving all 29 shots on goal that he faced. Nicholas Perry was in net for Henderson Force and saved a total of 30 out of 33 shots on goal.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Nils Tunbratt scored the game winning goal a little over midway into the second period and Oliver Melnychuk scored the insurance goal during the third period of the game.
Game 2 | Saturday, January 25, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 6, Henderson Force 3
FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (6-3) at Gateway Ice Center.
GOALTENDING: Brooks Barofsky able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving 20 out of 23 shots on goal. Jacob Brumm was in net for Henderson Force and saved a total of 32 out of 38 shots on goal.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Simon Eriksson scored the game winning goal and Filipp Papshev scored the insurance goal during the third period of the game.
HAT-TRICKS: After scoring three goals during this game, Simon Eriksson recorded his third hat-trick of the 2024-2024 regular season.
Game 3 | Sunday, January 26, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 5, Henderson Force 0
FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an impressive 5-0 shutout for the Fresno Monsters at Gateway Ice Center.
GOALTENDING: Brooks Barofsky able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving all 13 shots on goal that he faced during this game. Nicholas Perry was in net for Henderson Force and saved a total of 25 out of 30 shots on goal.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Simon Eriksson scored the game winning goal. This was then followed by Theo Granlund scoring the insurance goal twenty-one seconds after Eriksson’s goal during the second period of the game.
Lake Tahoe Lakers vs. Bakersfield Roughnecks (Three-Game Series)
Jan. 24-26, 2025
The Lake Tahoe Lakers traveled to Valley Childrens Ice Center where they faced the Bakersfield Roughnecks in a three-game series. This series started off with a thrilling Game 1 which ended with a 4-3 overtime win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers. This momentum continued into Game 2 of the series where the Lake Tahoe Lakers secured a 7-1 win. The Bakersfield Roughnecks did not go down without a fight as they closed out the three-game series with a 6-5 overtime win which ended the Lake Tahoe Lakers’ two-game winning streak.

FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an overtime victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (4-3) at Valley Childrens Ice Center.
GOALTENDING: Timon Franzen able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 23 out of 26 shots on goal. Jakob Barcelona was in net for the TEAM and saved a total of 43 out of 47 shots on goal.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Brian Erte scored the game winning goal 54 seconds into overtime.
Game 2 | Saturday, January 25, 2025 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 7, Bakersfield Roughnecks 1
FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory after a strong performance by the Lake Tahoe Lakers (7-1) at Valley Childrens Ice Center.
GOALTENDING: Perry Jacobs able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving 37 out of 38 shots on goal. Liam Luther was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and saved a total of 38 out of 45 shots on goal by the end of the game.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Zander Badger scored the game winning goal and Brian Erte scored the insurance goal early in the second period.
Game 3 | Sunday, January 26, 2025 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 6, Lake Tahoe Lakers 5
FINAL SCORE: After a very close game, the Bakersfield Roughnecks were able to pull through with an overtime 6-5 win on home ice at Valley Childrens Ice Center.
GOALTENDING: Stanislav Teplitskyi able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after saving 40 out of 45 shots on goal. Timon Franzen was in net the majority of the game for the Lake Tahoe Lakers and saved a total of 30 out of 36 shots on goal. Perry Jacobs did play for one minute and 19 seconds into overtime but did not face any shots on goal before Timon Franzen came back into the game.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Christopher Larochelle scored the game winning goal 1 minute and 26 seconds into overtime.
Ventura Vikings' Three-Game Series
Jan. 24-26, 2025
The Ventura Viking’s three-game series kicked off on home-ice at Iceoplex Simi Valley against the San Diego Sabers. After a tough start to the series where the San Diego Sabers won Game 1 with a final score of 6-2 and the Ontario Jr. Reign won Game 2 with a final score of 5-1, the Vikings went into Game 3 against the Long Beach Bombers with vengeance. The Vikings were able to close out their three-game series with a 4-3 win against the Long Beach Bombers. After this series, the Ventura Vikings have the potential to start a winning-streak after their Game 3 victory.

Game 2 | Saturday, January 25, 2025 | Ontario Jr. Reign 5, Ventura Vikings 1
FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (5-1) at Iceoplex Simi Valley.
GOALTENDING: Josh Henson, who was initially in net for the Ontario Jr. Reign, saved a total of 9 out of 10 shots on goal before Domenik McInenly took over midway into the second period. Domenik McInenly was able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving all 9 shots on goal that he faced by the end of the game. Brasco Cirillo was in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 43 out of 48 shots on goal.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Morry Sheynin scored the game winning goal and Luke Cannon scored the short handed insurance goal early in the third period.
Game 3 | Sunday, January 26, 2025 | Ventura Vikings 4, Long Beach Bombers 3
FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ventura Vikings (4-3) at Iceoplex Simi Valley.
GOALTENDING: Joshua Arsenault able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings after saving 33 out of 36 shots on goal. Ludovic Dagenais was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 30 out of 34 shots on goal.
GAME WINNING GOAL: Ventura Vikings’ Reese Tittle scored the game winning goal during the third period of the game.
Overall, Week 20 of the 2024-2025 USPHL Pacific Division was full of thrilling matchups as multiple teams tried to climb the standings to secure a spot in the playoffs. Memorable moments from this week included: Fresno Monsters’ 3-0 and 5-0 shutout in their first and third matchup against Henderson Force; Lake Tahoe Lakers’ overtime win against the Bakersfield Roughnecks; San Diego Sabers’ 6-0 shutout against the Long Beach Bombers; and a Bakersfield Roughnecks’ overtime win against the Lake Tahoe Lakers. There was 1 hat-trick recorded this past weekend which was recorded by Fresno Monsters’ Simon Eriksson (3 HT).

As we get closer to the end of the regular season, we have seen some movement in the standings. Below are some key points to highlight about the race to the playoffs.
The Lake Tahoe Lakers continue to hold down 1st place in the Pacific Division
The Fresno Monsters have moved up in the standings and taken 2nd place while the Ontario Jr. Reign settle in 3rd
Henderson Force remains inn 4th place, however, the San Diego Sabers are catching up to them.
The Bakersfield Roughnecks and Ventura Vikings may end up joining the Long Beach Bombers in not making it to the playoffs if they are unable to hold onto a winning-streak in their upcoming games.
