Jan. 24-25, 2025 Sabers' Two-Game Winning Streak!

The San Diego Sabers kicked off their two-game series this week against the Ventura Vikings and Long Beach Bombers with a successful 6-2 Game 1 win followed by a 6-0 shutout victory in Game 2. The Sabers may still be in 5th place in the Pacific Division standings with 40 PTS, however, they are getting closer to overtaking Henderson Force who currently is in 4th place with 45 PTS. Game 1 | San Diego Sabers 6, Ventura Vikings 2
After a relatively quiet first period, Sabers’ Sammy Albano gave the team a one-goal lead with 51 seconds left in the period (1-0). The Sabers carried this momentum into the second period as C. Liam Krupcyznski scored a short handed goal early in the period (2-0). Although the Vikings were able to answer back, this did not stop the Sabers from regaining and extending their lead with a power play goal scored by Knut Hornkvist and a goal scored by Caleb Murray (4-1). Sabers’ Sam Bailey helped the Sabers to maintain a four-goal lead until late in the third period when the Vikings cut the deficit to three-goals (5-2). The Sabers ended the game with a short handed goal scored by Briar Dickson with 13 seconds left in the third period. Sabers’ goaltender, Viktor Pasztor, was able to help the Sabers secure their victory after saving 31 out of 33 shots on goal. Although both teams did well to maintain puck possession throughout the game, the Sabers came out on top after having 6 successful goals out of 37 shots on goal.

Game 2 | San Diego Sabers 6, Long Beach Bombers 0
Sabers’ Sam Bailey scored the goal of the game and gave the Sabers a 1-0 lead by the end of the first period. Payton Hauge and Sammy Albano continued the momentum from the first period into the second period which resulted in two unanswered goals being scored and the Sabers extending their lead (3-0). The Sabers dominated the third period with three power play goals scored by Caleb Murray (2 G) and Devlin Morgan (1 G). These goals were left unanswered and resulted in the Sabers shutting out the Long Beach Bombers 6-0 after having 42 shots on goal by the end of the game. Sabers’ goaltender, Viktor Pasztor, was able to help secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after all 25 shots on goal that he faced during this game.
After a successful two-game series, the Sabers still remain in the fight to overtake Henderson Force and secure that 4th spot in the playoffs. They go into their next two-game series against the Bakersfield Roughnecks with confidence that the momentum from this past series will greatly aid them in their upcoming games.
