The San Diego Sabers faced the Ventura Vikings on home ice at Carlsbad Icetown. This game resulted in a 7-4 triumphant win for the Sabers.

Game 1 | San Diego Sabers 7, Ventura Vikings 4

San Diego Sabers’ Liam Krupcyznski answered back and momentarily tied the game 1-1 after the Ventura Vikings scored early in the first period. After a hard-fought battle, the Ventura Vikings were able to score again and have a one-goal lead by the end of the first period (2-1). The Sabers made a huge comeback during the second period with three goals scored which greatly helped to extend the team's lead. Sabers’ Aidan Cosgrove tied the game (2-2) one minute and thirty seconds into the period and C. Liam Krupcyznski gave the Sabers their first lead of the game shortly after Cosgrove’s goal (3-2). The Vikings answered back with a power play goal, however, this did not stop the Sabers’ momentum as Sam Bailey closed out the second period with a score of 4-3 in the Sabers’ favor. The Sabers continued to dominate the third period as Caleb Murray extended the team’s lead early in the period (5-3). Sam Bailey later scored a short handed goal late in the third period (6-3). Although the Ventura Vikings made a valiant effort to cut their goal-deficit after scoring a power play goal during the last 5 minutes of the third period, Sabers’ Noah Black sealed the deal with an empty net goal and made the final score 7-4. The Sabers ended their win with a total of 47 shots on goal and their goaltender, Viktor Pasztor, saving 17 out of 21 shots on goal. 


After a successful game against the Ventura Vikings, the San Diego Sabers go into next week’s Las Vegas Showcase with the utmost confidence to continue to carry their momentum and close out 2024 strong.

  • The San Diego Sabers will face the Rogue Valley Royals on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 12:00 PM PST. This game will be located at America First Center Rink 2.

Saturday, December 21, 2024

  • The San Diego Sabers will face Iron County Yeti on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM PST. This game will be located at America First Center Rink 1.
