Game 3 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 5, San Diego Sabers 2
The Lake Tahoe Lakers kicked off the game with three unanswered goals in the first period which ended with a 3-0 lead in the Lakers’ favor. Sabers’ Aidan Cosgrove momentarily made it a two-goal game again midway through the third period, however, the Lakers were able to regain their three-goal lead after capitalizing on their power play opportunity late in the period. Despite the Lakers winning with a final score of 5-2, this does not take away from Parker Lewis’ performance in the net as he saved a total of 46 out of 51 shots on goal by the end of the game.
After being swept, the Sabers’ chances of making it to the playoffs have narrowed even further as the race to the playoffs is coming to an end soon. The Sabers, who have 43 PTS and are currently in 5th place, will remain in the race as they have a chance to tie Henderson Force (53 PTS) if the Sabers are able to win their last five games of the regular season and if Henderson Force is unable to win their remaining four games of the regular season. The Sabers do have an uphill battle to climb if they want any chance of tying Henderson Force. These next few games are vital for both the Sabers and Henderson Force which will make for a thrilling race to watch.
