Game 1 Preview (SDS vs. LBB)

The Sabers will take on the Long Beach Bombers at Lakewood Ice this Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 7:00 PM PDT. Both teams have had a tough start to the season and are hungry for their first win of the regular season.

This past two-game series for the Sabers resulted in a loss against the Ontario Jr. Reign. The Long Beach Bombers also faced adversity after battling against the Lake Tahoe Lakers in a three-game series this weekend. Both teams are determined to win this Thursday.

The San Diego Sabers are currently in 5th place with 0 points in the Pacific standings and have a season record of 0-2-0-0. Their leading scorers are Liam Krupcyznski who currently has 4 points and Knut Hornkvist who has 2 points this season.

The Long Beach Bombers are currently in 6th place with 0 points in the Pacific standings and have a season record of 0-4-0-0. Their leading scorer is Brian Mantooth who currently has 2 points.

Going into this matchup, the San Diego Sabers have a 20% power play success rate which is 13.75% higher compared to the Long Beach Bombers 6.25% power play success rate. The Long Beach Bombers have a 65% penalty killing percentage which is slightly higher than the Sabers’ 60% penalty killing percentage success rate.

Based on stats alone, we can predict that the San Diego Sabers will be stronger on the power play, however, the Long Beach Bombers’ slightly higher penalty kill may stun the Sabers. The San Diego Sabers must remain consistent in order to win this thrilling matchup against the Long Beach Bombers.

Game 2 Preview (SDS vs. BKR)

The Sabers will take on the Bakersfield Roughnecks at Valley Childrens Ice Center this Friday, September 27, 2024 at 7:30 PM PDT. The San Diego Sabers have had a tough start to the season after their matchups against Ontario Jr. Reign. On the other hand, the Bakersfield Roughnecks have had a successful start to the 2024-2025 regular season.

This past two-game series for the Sabers resulted in a loss against the Ontario Jr. Reign. The Bakersfield Roughnecks won their three-game series against the Ventura Vikings this past weekend. The San Diego Sabers are hungry to win their first game of the season while the Bakersfield Roughnecks are determined to continue their win streak.

The San Diego Sabers are currently in 5th place with 0 points in the Pacific standings and have a season record of 0-2-0-0. Their leading scorers are Liam Krupcyznski who currently has 4 points and Knut Hornkvist who has 2 points this season.

The Bakersfield Roughnecks are currently in 3rd place with 4 points in the Pacific standings and have a season record of 2-1-0-0. Their leading scorers are Tyler Gyori and Louis Allen who currently both have 6 points.

Going into this matchup, the San Diego Sabers have a 20% power play success rate which is 5% lower compared to the Bakersfield Roughnecks’ 25% power play success rate. The Bakersfiled Roughnecks have a 76.47% penalty killing percentage which is higher than the Sabers’ 60% penalty killing percentage success rate.

If we are only going based on stats, the Bakersfield Roughnecks have a slight advantage over the San Diego Sabers, however, the San Diego Sabers may be able to overcome the Bakersfield Roughnecks if they play a tight and disciplined game.

Game 3 (SDS vs. VNV)

The Sabers will take on the Ventura Vikings on home ice at Carlsbad Icetown this Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 8:00 PM PDT. The San Diego Sabers have had a tough start to the season after their matchups against Ontario Jr. Reign. The Ventura Vikings have had a steady start to the 2024-2025 regular season.

This past two-game series for the Sabers resulted in a loss against the Ontario Jr. Reign. The Ventura Vikings won their first game of the regular season against the Long Beach Bombers and Game 1 of the three-game series against the Bakersfield Roughnecks which overall did not go in their favor after losing Game 2 and Game 3 of the series this past weekend. The San Diego Sabers are determined to win their first game of the season while the Ventura Vikings are driven to regain their win streak.

The San Diego Sabers are currently in 5th place with 0 points in the Pacific standings and have a season record of 0-2-0-0. Their leading scorers are Liam Krupcyznski who currently has 4 points and Knut Hornkvist who has 2 points this season.

The Ventura Vikings are currently in 4th place with 4 points in the Pacific standings and have a season record of 2-2-0-0. Their leading scorer is Cosimo Repaci who currently has 5 points.

Going into this matchup, the San Diego Sabers have a 20% power play success rate which is 1.82% slightly higher compared to the Ventura Vikings’ 18.18% power play success rate. The Ventrua Vikings have a 78.57% penalty killing percentage which is higher than the Sabers’ 60% penalty killing percentage success rate.

Looking at the stats alone, the San Diego Sabers are not too far off compared to the Ventura Vikings in regards to power play success rates, however, they do need to tighten up on the power play in order to combat the Ventura Vikings’ penalty kill. Goaltending is also something that will play a big role in either team winning this matchup.

San Diego Sabers, despite their previous challenges against the Ontario Jr. Reign, go into this week’s match-ups with vengeance in order to get their first win of the season.
