Montréal Victoire 3OT Win Ties the Series (1-1)

The Montréal Victoire started Game 2 hot and were able to maintain puck possession throughout the first period (13 SOG vs. 9 SOG). Despite both teams having a series of great scoring chances and a couple attempts on the power play, the score remained at a 0-0 tied standstill going into the second period of regulation. 

Using their momentum from their Game 1 win, the Minnesota Frost turned the tides and maintained puck possession throughout the second period (13 SOG vs. 9 SOG). In a similar manner as the first period, the score continued to remain tied (0-0) with neither team having a chance on the man-advantage. The standstill continued due to the stellar goaltending performances of Minnesota Frosts’ #35 Maddie Rooney and Montréal Victoire’s #35 Ann-Renée Desbiens. 

After an intense third period, the score remained 0-0 with both teams ending with five shots on goal. The Minnesota Frost was the only team to have a power play opportunity during the third period but were unable to get anything past the undefeated Montréal Victoire penalty kill unit and the admirable in net efforts of #35 Ann-Renée Desbiens. With the game scoreless by the end of regulation, these teams were forced to duel against one another in overtime.

The first overtime period remained scoreless despite the Montréal Victoire outshooting the Minnesota Frost (11 SOG vs. 6 SOG) and having the only attempt on the power play. This remarkable win by the Montréal Victoire would not have been possible without the outstanding goaltending performance of #35 Ann-Renée Desbiens who saved all 38 shots on goal faced by the end of this game. The Minnesota Frost's gut wrenching loss does not take away from the impressive in net performance of #35 Maddie Rooney who saved a total of 51 out of 52 shots on goal. After a ruthless battle, the Montréal Victoire have earned their first win in the 2026 PWHL Walter Cup Playoffs.
