Jan. 9-12, 2025 USPHL Pacific Division Game Recaps

The USPHL Pacific Division teams kicked off 2025 with multiple three-game matchups that ended with a couple winning streaks being extended, multiple shutouts, a shootout win, and hat-tricks recorded! Read all about how the Fresno Monsters, Henderson Force, and Lake Tahoe Lakers swept their three-game series and the highs and lows between the Ventura Vikings and Bakersfield Roughnecks!


Fresno Monsters Dominate their Three-Game Series

January 9-11, 2025

The Fresno Monsters kicked off their three-game series against the Long Beach Bombers with a 5-1 Game 1 win at Lakewood Ice. The team carried their momentum into Game 2 of the series and shutout the Long Beach Bombers 9-0. The Fresno Monsters then traveled to Ontario Center Ice Arena where they faced the Ontario Jr. Reign and closed out Game 3 of their three-game series with an 8-6 victory. After a successful week, the Fresno Monsters are now on a four-game winning streak. 

Game 1 | Thursday, January 09, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 5, Long Beach Bombers 1

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (5-1) at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Brooks Barofsky able to secure the win for the Fresno monsters after saving 31 out of 32 shots on goal. Stepan Vedernikov was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 46 out of 51 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Simon Eriksson scored the game winning goal and Connor Perdue scored the insurance goal during the first period of the game. 

Game 2 | Friday, January 10, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 9, Long Beach Bombers 0

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant 9-0 shutout by the Fresno Monsters at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Peter Burke able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving all 17 shots on goal that he faced. Ethan Fitzgerald initially started in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 22 out of 27 shots on goal before Stepan Vedernikov took over during the beginning of the second period. Stepan Vedernikov remained in net for the rest of the game and saved a total of 18 out of 22 shots on goal.

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Tuukka Salmi scored the game winning goal and Jonathan Heidenberg Andersen scored the power play insurance goal early in the first period of the game. 

Game 3 | Saturday, January 11, 2025 | Fresno Monsters 8, Ontario Jr. Reign 6

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Fresno Monsters (8-6) at Ontario Center Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Brooks Barofsky able to secure the win for the Fresno Monsters after saving 32 out of 38 shots on goal. Josh Henson was in net for the Ontario Jr. Reign and saved a total of 34 out of 42 shots on goal by the end of this game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Fresno Monsters’ Connor Perdue scored the game winning goal and Filipp Papshev scored the power play insurance goal during the third period of this game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Fresno Monsters’ Connor Perdue recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring three goals during this game. 


Ventura Vikings vs. Bakersfield Roughnecks 

January 10-12, 2025

The Ventura Vikings traveled to Valley Childrens Ice Center where they faced the Bakersfield Roughnecks in a three-game series. Game 1 of the series resulted in an 8-5 win for the Ventura Vikings and Cameron Cote recording his third hat-trick of the regular season. Game 2 of the series ended in the Ventura Vikings’ favor with a final score of 5-4 after an intense shootout. The Bakersfield Roughnecks made a huge comeback in Game 3 of the series where they won with a final score of 8-5. Although the Ventura Vikings took this three-game series, both teams showed great performances on the ice.

Game 1 | Friday, January 10, 2025 | Ventura Vikings 8, Bakersfield Roughnecks 5

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ventura Vikings (8-5) at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Ethan Sellwood was able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings and saved 31 out of 33 shots on goal after taking over for Brasco Cirillo during the first period of the game. Brasco Cirillo saved a total of 10 out of 13 goals before Ethan Sellwood took over. Liam Luther was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and saved a total of 29 out of 37 shots on goal before Stanislav Teplitskyi took over for the last three minutes of the game and did not face any shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ventura Vikings’ Dylan Hazuka scored the game winning goal and Kelson Wuttunue scored the insurance goal during the third period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Ventura Vikings’ Cameron Cote recorded his 3rd hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring four goals during this game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, January 11, 2025 | Ventura Vikings 5, Bakersfield Roughnecks 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a shootout victory for the Ventura Vikings (5-4) at Valley Childrens Ice Center.

  • GOALTENDING: Ethan Sellwood able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings after saving 38 out of 42 shots on goal. Stanislav Teplitskyi was in net for the Bakersfield Roughnecks and saved a total of 36 out of 40 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ventura Vikings’ Cameron Cote scored the game winning goal during the second round of the shootout. 

Game 3 | Sunday, January 12, 2025 | Bakersfield Roughnecks 8, Ventura Vikings 5

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks (8-5) at Valley Childrens Ice Center. 

  • GOALTENDING: Max Sutton able to secure the win for the Bakersfield Roughnecks after saving 36 out of 41 shots on goal. Joshua Arsenault was initially in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 19 out of 23 shots on goal before Brasco Cirillo took over during the beginning of the second period. Brasco Cirillo saved a total of 15 out of 18 shots on goal by the end of the game for the Ventura Vikings.  

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Gavin Mears scored the game winning goal and Christopher Larochelle scored the insurance goal during the beginning of the third period. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Nazar Atta El-Manan recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring four goals by the end of this game. 


Henderson Force Sweep the San Diego Sabers

January 10-12, 2025

The San Diego Sabers traveled to America First Center Rink 1 and faced Henderson Force in a three-game series. Henderson Force started the series strong with a 4-2 win in Game 1 and a 7-4 win in Game 2 of the three-game series. Henderson Force closed out the three-game series with a 5-3 victory and Noah Morency recording his third hat-trick of the regular season. After a successful week, Henderson Force are now on a three-game winning streak!

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force (4-2) at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Nicholas Perry able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 28 out of 30 shots on goal. Mikhail Saratovtsev was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 32 out of 36 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Christopher Bruder scored the short handed game winning goal and Noah Morency scored the insurance goal during the third period of the game. 

Game 2 | Saturday, January 11, 2025 | Henderson Force 7, San Diego Sabers 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation victory for Henderson Force (7-4) at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Jacob Brumm able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 36 out of 40 shots on goal. Viktor Pasztor was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 32 out of 39 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Preston Castaneda scored the game winning goal during the second period and Ryan Pavlinsky scored the power play insurance goal during the third period. 

Game 3 | Sunday, January 12, 2025 | Henderson Force 5, San Diego Sabers 3

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for Henderson Force (5-3) at America First Center Rink 1. 

  • GOALTENDING: Nicholas Perry able to secure the win for Henderson Force after saving 33 out of 36 shots on goal. Parker Lewis was in net for the San Diego Sabers and saved a total of 31 out of 35 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Henderson Force’s Noah Morency scored the power play game winning goal and Asher Taylor scored the empty net insurance goal of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: After scoring three goals during this game, Henderson Force’s Noah Morency recorded his third hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 


Lake Tahoe Lakers Shutout the Rogue Valley Royals 

January 10-12, 2025

The Rogue Valley Royals traveled to South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena where they faced the Lake Tahoe Lakers in a three-game series. Game 1 of the series kicked off with a dominant performance by the Lake Tahoe Lakers who shut out the Rogue Valley Royals 8-0. The Lake Tahoe Lakers continued to take control over Game 2 of the series and shutout the Rogue Valley Royals 11-0. This three-game series wrapped up with another double-digit shutout for the Lake Tahoe Lakers as they won with a final score of 10-0. After their successful week, the Lake Tahoe Lakers are now on a three-game winning streak.

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a dominant 8-0 shutout victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers (8-0) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Perry Jacobs able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after saving all 16 shots on goal that he faced. Kaeden Edstrom was in net for the Rogue Valley Royals and saved a total of 90 out of 98 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Patrick Lindbohm scored the game winning goal and Lance Spencer scored the insurance goal during the latter half of the first period. 

Game 2 | Saturday, January 11, 2025 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 11,  Rogue Valley Royals 0

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an astonishing 11-0 shutout victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Timon Franzen, who saved all 11 shots on goal faced, and Wyatt Osio, who saved all 6 shots on goal faced, were able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after collectively saving all 17 shots on goal faced by the end of this game. Bryson Snow was initially in net for the Rogue Valley Royals and saved a total of 16 out of 22 shots on goal before Nikolai Ershov took over during the beginning of the second period and saved a total of 39 out of 44 shots on goal by the end of the game. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Carter Lehmann scored the power play game winning goal and Scott McNulty scored the insurance goal during the first period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Scott McNulty recorded his third hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season after scoring 4 goals during this game. 

Game 3 | Sunday, January 12, 2025 | Lake Tahoe Lakers 10, Rogue Valley Royals 0

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with another double digit shutout victory for the Lake Tahoe Lakers(10-0) at South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. 

  • GOALTENDING: Liam Freel, who saved 13 shots on goal, and Wyatt Osio, who saved 3 shots on goal, were able to secure the win for the Lake Tahoe Lakers after collectively saving all 16 shots on goal that they faced. Kaeden Edstrom was in net for the Rogue Valley Royals and saved a total of 62 out of 72 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Patrick Lindbohm scored the game winning goal and Tyler Gudjonson scored the insurance goal during the first period of the game. 


Overall, Week 18 of the 2024-2025 USPHL Pacific Division was full of thrilling games that had some impressive and memorable outcomes. Some memorable moments from this week included: a total of three shutouts recorded as the Lake Tahoe Lakers ended their three-game series with two double-digit shutouts and the Fresno Monsters ended with one shutout; a 5-4 shootout win for the Ventura Vikings in Game 2 of their three-game series; and multiple winning streaks extended. There were 5 hat-tricks recorded this past weekend which included: Fresno Monsters’ Connor Perdue (1 HT); Bakersfield Roughnecks’ Nazar Atta El-Manan (1 HT); Ventura Vikings’ Cameron Cote (3 HT); Lake Tahoe Lakers’ Scott McNulty (3 HT); and Henderson Force’s Noah Morency (3 HT). Overall, most teams kicked off 2025 with some exciting plays and also with teams hungry to win and climb up in the standings for the highly anticipated playoffs!
