Dec 12-13, 2024 of the USPHL 2024-2025 Pacific Division kicked off with two-game series for the Ventura Vikings and Long Beach Bombers.


Long Beach Bombers Two-Game Series

Dec. 12-13, 2024

The Long Beach Bombers faced the Ventura Vikings at Lakewood Ice and started their two-game series with an 8-4 loss. Despite a tough loss in Game 1, this does not take away from Long Beach Bombers Marcus Vargas’ efforts to record his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season which greatly contributed to the team’s 4 goals scored during this game. The team then faced the Ontario Jr. Reign for Game 2 which resulted in a 4-2 win for Ontario Jr. Reign. Although the Long Beach Bombers faced tough losses this week, their efforts were still commendable. The Ontario Jr. Reign are now on a six-game winning streak. 

Game 1 | Thursday, December 12, 2024 | Ventura Vikings 8, Long Beach Bombers 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a triumphant regulation victory for the Ventura Vikings (8-4) at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Ethan Sellwood was able to secure the win for the Ventura Vikings after saving 47 out of 51 shots on goal. Ethan Fitzgerald was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 21 out of 29 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ventura Vikings’ Kai Tsoar scored the power play game winning goal and the insurance goal during the third period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Long Beach Bombers’ Marcus Vargas and Ventura Vikings’ Kai Tsoar both recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season during this game. 

Game 2 |Friday, December 13, 2024 | Ontario Jr. Reign 4, Long Beach Bombers 2

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with a regulation win for the Ontario Jr. Reign (4-2) at Lakewood Ice. 

  • GOALTENDING: Josh Henson was able to secure the win for the Ontario Jr. Reign after saving 15 out of 17 shots on goal. Stepan Vedernikov was in net for the Long Beach Bombers and saved a total of 48 out of 51 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Ontario Jr. Reign’s Denver Craig scored the game winning goal and Christian Yi scored the short handed, empty net, power play goal with 54 seconds left of the third period. 


Ventura Vikings’ Two-Game Series

December 12-13, 2024

The Ventura Vikings started off their two-game series against the Long Beach Bombers at Lakewood Ice. Game 1 of the series resulted in an 8-4 victory for the Ventura Vikings. Game 1 also resulted with Ventura Vikings’ Kai Tsoar recording his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. The team then traveled to Carlsbad Icetown and faced the San Diego Sabers in Game 2 of their two-game series this week. This game between the San Diego Sabers and Ventura Vikings resulted in a 7-4 win for the San Diego Sabers. Despite a tough loss, an honorable acknowledgement goes to Ventura Vikings’ Cameron Cote’s hat-trick during this game.

Game 2 | Friday, December 13, 2024 | San Diego Sabers 7, Ventura Vikings 4

  • FINAL SCORE: This game ended with an impressive regulation victory for the San Diego Sabers (7-4) at Carlsbad Icetown. 

  • GOALTENDING: Viktor Pasztor was able to secure the win for the San Diego Sabers after saving 17 out of 21 shots on goal. Joshua Arsenault was in net for the Ventura Vikings and saved a total of 40 out of 46 shots on goal. 

  • GAME WINNING GOAL: Caleb Murray scored the game winning goal and Sam Bailey scored the short handed insurance goal during the third period of the game. 

  • HAT-TRICKS: Ventura Vikings’ Cameron Cote recorded his first hat-trick of the 2024-2025 regular season. 


Overall, Week 14 of the 2024-2025 regular season of the USPHL Pacific Division was full of thrilling high-scoring games and multiple hat-tricks. A memorable moment from this weekend was the Ontario Jr. Reign extending their winning streak to a six-game winning streak! There were 3 hat-tricks recorded this past weekend which included Ventura Vikings’ Kai Tsoar (1 HT) and Cameron Cote (1 HT) as well as Long Beach Bombers’ Marcus Vargas (1 HT) . Looking into this weekend, we have a lot of exciting matchups ahead of us with the Las Vegas Showcase.
