The Jets and Blues will face one another in round one of the 2025 NHL Playoffs which will take place on the Jets’ home ice at Canada Life Centre. The Jets have had the upper hand when playing against the Blues as they won three out of the four games played against one another during the 2024-25 regular season. Although the Jets have had the upper hand, the Blues are eagerness to win the Cup will be what fuels them in this series.  


The Jets entered the playoffs with some momentum from their 2-1 overtime win against the Anaheim Ducks in their last game of the regular season. The Blues also enter the playoffs with some momentum after their 5-1 win against the Utah Hockey Club in their last matchup of the regular season. 


The Jets were the first team in the Western Conference and the Central Division to clinch a playoff spot after securing their 5-4 overtime win against the Washington Capitals which occurred on March 25, 2025. The Winnipeg Jets also secured their first Presidents’ Trophy win in their franchise’s history after they ended the regular season with the following stats: 116 points, a 56-22-4 season record, a 29.25 PP%, a 79.19 PK%, and 10 impressive shutouts recorded. #81 Kyle Connor led the Jets with the most points recorded by the end of the regular season as he ended with 97 points (41G, 56A). In regards to goaltending, #37 Connor Hellebuyck dominated the regular season with a 0.925 SV%, a 2.01 GAA, 8 shutouts, and a record of 47-12-3. Goaltender, #1 Eric Comrie, also had shown a commendable performance during the regular season as he ended the regular season with a record of 9-10-1, a 2.39 GAA, a 0.914 SV%, and 2 shutouts recorded.  


The Blues were the team to clinch the last wildcard spot in the Western Division of the playoffs after their 6-1 win against the Utah Hockey Club on April 15, 2025. The Blues ended the regular season with the following stats: 96 points, a 44-30-8 season record, a 21.16 PP%, a 74.33 PK%, and 4 shutouts. #18 Robert Thomas led the Blues with the most points and assists recorded during the regular season with 81 points and 60 assists. #25 Jordan Kyrou led the team with the most goals recorded during the regular season as he ended with 36 goals scored. The first half of the Blues’ goaltending tandem was #50 Jordan Binnington who ended the regular season with a 28-22-5 record, 2.69 GAA, 0.900 SV%, and 3 shutouts. The second half of the tandem consisted of #30 Joel Hofer who ended with a 16-8-3 record, 2.65 GAA, 0.904 SV%, and 1 shutout. 


Going into this matchup, the Blues ended the regular season with a 21.16 PP% overall power play success rate which is lower compared to Jets’ 29.25% overall power play success rate. The Jets ended the regular season with an 79.19 PK% overall penalty killing success rate which is higher compared to the Blues’ 74.33 PK% penalty killing success rate. When they played against one another during the regular season, both teams were very similar in regards to total goals scored (11G Jets, 10G Blues) and total shots (101 SOG Jets, 100 SOG Blues). When looking at the average power play success rate of the four games that they played against one another, the Jets did find more success on the power play compared to the Blues (15.5% vs. 6.25%) while the Blues, one average, found more success in their faceoff percentage (55.93% vs. 44.08%). 


The Blues, despite their previous challenges against the Jets, go into these match-ups with vengeance in order to advance to the second round. On the other hand, the Jets go into these match-ups with the utmost confidence and determination to remain on top as they have done previously in the regular season.
